Pub Golden Monkey — Restaurant in Tampere sub-region

Take a note before reading this: I was mildly drunk while visiting this place but I have pretty clear memory of this pub. It has a good atmosphere, almost punkish spirit in it. It has cool and neat staff working there but the thing that doesn't match the look of this place is the music. I was expecting some rock or punk classics or just something that had aged well or had some kind of guitar tune or aggressive drum in it but nope. Basic pop mixes, a bit disappointed I was by that part. Over all a place loaded full...

Simply put, traditional Finnish pub with a fantastic beer selection, on and off the tap. Several of them from small Finnish breweries. Ask for the tasting menu if you feel like trying up to three tap beers.

The major let down is the lack of food, but if you fancy a pizza from the place in front, you can order it and eat in the pub. There is a small extra charge, though.

This is an updated review after 8 years from previous one. Excellent selection of beers on taps and even better in bottles and cans. Nowadays has also interesting special and rare beers to be shared with other beer geeks. Pub Kultainen Apina shows that you do not have to travel to downtown to get good beer. Very easily accessible nowadays even from downtown with a tram....
