A STORIA — Restaurant in Ajaccio

First, we arrived and they had at least 4 tables free, but they said they didn't have a table for us. We came back in 10', and "suddenly" they had the same table that was empty. At the same time, other people -older, and french speakers- was arriving without reservation, and the staff put them without waiting in the free tables. We asked fried fish. In 15' they said that they didn't have more fried fish. We asked lasagna. In 10' they came back again and say there was no lasagna. Astonishing. We say "then, another fish that is in the menu". He said "no, there isn't any fish in stock". Surprised, we asked them to note us all the dishes not available, for avoiding another "failed order", and they respond unrespectfully that "they cannot control the period between we order the meal and it is finished in the kitchen". Not an apologise. Finally we ordered two salads. They brought it in 20' (tottaly 45' waiting), but there was sand mixed with the salad, indicator that have not been well washed and desinfected. The waitress that had been attending us pass near us and asked "is everything ok?". I answer explaining the sand issue, and he ignore me and run away. My couple is pregnant, so it could cause and infection of toxiplasmosis. It's a serious and inadmissible mistake. We explain everything to the restaurant boss, and they decided not to charge us the money (fair), but although we are very upset. I expect that it will not cause any medical problem. Do not trust this restaurant at all: bad quality, poor attention. And, honestly, I think that the story of no stock (fish, lasagna) was a lie, and the point was that actually they only wanted to cook easy dishes (pizza and, salads). Nobody greeted us upon arrival so we just seated ourselves. Service was terrible. After waiting a while to be served we were then given the wrong pizza and he had to take it back and we waited again for the correct food. The food was really good and we enjoyed. Sat outside so a nice environment. Once finished we asked our waiter for the bill. After 10 minutes we asked again for the bill. We were told 2 minutes. After waiting another 10 we asked again if we could pay. The waiter then incredibly rudely spoke to us telling us there is a problem with the card machine, shouting "Okay!!" He had a very aggressive manner and was plain rude. We were shocked at the service and had he just explained the first time we asked we would have been fine waiting. We started to get up to leave and coincidentally the card machine was suddenly working. There was a big fiasco at the desk to pay. Nobody knew what our order was, our receipt had the wrong order on it, the guy dropped the card machine which smashed on the floor. Just appalling. We were so tempted not to pay, but we paid what we owed and it completely ruined our mood and day. Such a shame that a rude person could ruin...
