Le Soleil Couchant — Restaurant in Ajaccio

Ambience is good; nice decoration and an amazing view. However the attitude of the waitress was quite rude. Our intention was to have some food for lunch, but we e ended up ordering only desserts & coffee since the prices for the salads & dishes were extremely high vs their content. But the waitress found it inappropriate to order only desserts ?!? And made it very clear to us.. when she brought the plates, she handed us the bill at the same time, which is something I’ve seen for the first time ! Extremely rude.. A kind service can make your day, and the opposite can kill your entire mood as well.. It’s sad how they are not able to make the best use of the location & the ambience. I’d never recommend this place due to this impolite attitude.

As a respond to the management : We checked the menu and we changed our minds. People enter a restaurant and check the menu and give their final decision. The decision can change due to pricing, not interested in the meals in the menu for any reason or seeing the dishes at other tables.. etc. As i understood from your response, you exchanged 'not welcoming the customer' with 'being rude'.. and this is out of politeness.. We have been in another restaurant in Porto and the bill wasnt put on table with the serving, may be that is the case with some of them. We werent there for your icecream, just for simple lunch. Changing mind is not a lie, what an unfortunate response to come up with words to attack.. It is also pity that you discriminate customers and where to seat them as per what they eat, how much they let you earn. As a postscript, a customer can eat dessert and have a few drinks, coctails afterwards.. Obviously to what was written above, we are not coming to...

Je rédige cet avis à la demande la patronne du Soleil Couchant... (elle m'a aussi donné son nom mais je n'ai pas fait l'effort de m'en souvenir MDR).

Comme a pu également l'évoquer l'utilisateur "Touriste", je suis celui (enfin, avec mes 2 enfants et ma femme) qui s'est fait virer par la patronne de cet établissement... Nous arrivons à 13H10 et passons commande. Nous patientons, nous patientons, nous patientons. Il ne fait pas super chaud et nous demandons (poliment) s'il serait possible de prendre une autre table située au soleil. Nous prenons tout, les sets de tables, les verres... et ne laissons rien sur la table pour nous installer sur l'autre (pas besoin d'aide pour cela, et comme nous avons demandé, cela me parait normal de le faire nous même). Bref, rien de bien compliqué. Au bout d'une heure. 14H11, je me lève et je vais demander à la patronne si elle avait des infos sur notre commande. Réponse "vous êtes quelle table...". Je lui explique juste que ça fait 1 heure que l'on patiente et que pour l'instant, nous n'avons pas eu d'info depuis notre commande. Réponse "ce n'est pas vrai, ça ne fait pas une heure !" (j'adore cette contestation). Je lui précise juste que si, car j'ai fait une photo quand nous sommes arrivées à table avec les enfants. Et là bam, elle me raccompagne à la table, prend notre fiche papier avec les commandes et le froisse dans sa main. Elle nous demande de sortir. Je lui précise bien qu'à aucun moment, je n'ai manqué de respect et que nous souhaitons attendre. Et bien non, c'est dehors.... Avec les arguments suivants : moi je fais 130 couverts ce midi, je n'ai pas besoin de 4 clients (super !!!) et puis c'est pas à mon age que... et puis quand on voit ce qui se passe en ce moment (NDRL : la guerre en Ukraine, aucun rapport avec le smilblick). Je reste seul devant la porte, mes enfants et ma femme étant partis et je lui précise bien de nouveau qu'à aucun moment, je n'ai manqué ni de respect ni de quoi que ce soit, j'ai juste posé une question et sur un ton aimable. Viens alors une autre personne (serveuse ????) qui m'ouvre la porte pour me préciser de nouveau "aller monsieur, on sort". Bref, je ne vais pas juger le repas, nous n'avons rien mangé ! Si en une heure, ils ne peuvent rien sortir (alors qu'une table de 6 arrivée en même temps que nous a terminé pratiquement...). Je n'ai rien contre attendre, après, je n'apprécie pas la façon de faire !!!! Elle me précise tout de même et non sur un ton sarcastique que de toute façon, ils sont tous fermés aujourd'hui (lundi de pâques), vous ne trouverez rien et vous ne mangerez pas ! (la modération google n'autorisant pas les insultes, je vais m'abstenir....). Nous sortons, nous remontons la rue et demandons à une pizzeria si nous pouvons encore manger quelques choses. Aucun problème par contre, nous fermons la cuisine donc, ce sera soit plat du jour ou alors des salades. Servi en 5 minutes, sympathique etc...

Bref, à fuir pour manque de respect de la...

The setting is truly beautiful and you have a chance to see the actual sunset but that's the only positive part. There were a lot of people sitting on the terrace so we decided to give it a go. I wish I read the reviews before. First alarming sign is the bread of very poor quality; they really had to look hard to find it on a French island where you have good baguettes pretty much on every corner. The pizza Margherita wasn't bad but the fish soup didn't have a single piece of fish and instead was a salty liquid that apparently you're supposed to eat with mayonnaise (?!?) and (again, low quality) grated cheese. The goat cheese salad was just sad and the grilled salmon was dry like wood. Frankly, they have great conditions given the location with awesome view but with everything else things went...
