Stopped at Pilatus for a lunch as so many times before. We were 6 people and some of us ordered their Chicken Supreme with morelle sauce and mashed potatoes, price 34 euros. One would expect a good size, succulent chicken breast swimming in creamy morelles and smooth mash. Well, it wasn’t. Instead the portion was for a 5 year old child with 3 small pieces of chicken of which one was the bone, no morelles, some mash, peas and carrots. As we were disappointed I called the waiter, who informed me that I don’t have to eat it but I will have to pay for it. I was a bit taken back of his rather unfriendly approach, so I said I am not going to eat the child portion and he can take it away. I followed him to find the owner, who told me that it is Christmas and waved his arms. I was getting more perplexed and felt defeated and returned to our table. The waiter brought me another portion of the same without me reordering. This time it was a wee bit bigger portion, possibly suitable for a 9 year old skier. Also they had added 1 morelles mushroom to comply with their menu description. We duly paid the full price for everything and left when the neighbouring table were enjoying their complimentary génépi … which we were not offered. So sad to see poor service, high prices in such a beautiful spot. Great that there are so many other restaurants to choose from...
Read moreAs more and more of the Courchevel restaurants transform themselves into day time discos serving mediocre food, Le Pilatus, or the Altiport as we knew it in a different epoch,, remains one of the best restos around 1850.
One receives a very, very warm welcome, the service being impeccable without being over the top. And the food is fabulous. We shared a lovingly composed light caesar salad and then both of us followed on with the plat de jour: a risotto with a generous helping of roasted scallops. As always the deserts were wonderful evidencing a light hand in the kitchen.
The wines on the list tend to be of a good quality with prices to match and the Pouilly Fuissé we had was just gorgeous.
This is not a cheap place to visit but you get classy food and brilliant service in comfortable surroundings. Having said thay, you can get a plate of pasta or an omelette, frites et salade, for...
Read moreThis place is THE BEST for skiing lovers!⛷️ It's on the hill of the beautiful ski piste, and you can go straight from the hotel down the slopes.
The location is amazing, but this also meant we had some troubles when it would snow very hard.❄️ So make sure to have winter tires/ quadro for when it's heavy snow. The staff was super friendly helping us push our car out of the snow.
There is breakfast in the morning, and staff provides fresh pancakes, delicious croissants, and more. The rooms were beautiful and cleaned daily with a couch, tv, and kitchen table. It was totally cosy! I will say however, this is not the place for someone to sit on their phone all day, as the Wi-Fi in the mountain isn't good enough to watch videos.(Which is unsurprising) Overall had an amazing experience at an amazing place to stay on the pisté, and would definitely reccomend...
