Insulted by staff and my sister physically assaulted - actual rating is 0 stars:
On seeing the Friday evening karaoke ‘invitation’ to resort guests, I encouraged and brought along 10 new friends and my sister from our chalet to enjoy some post dinner ‘fun’ on our penultimate evening in La Tania.
Sadly the evening culminated in our group having the microphone abruptly removed from us (and the other enthusiastic participants around us) by the staff member ‘running’ the event, halfway through the second song of the whole night we had been ‘granted’, between tweeny numbers, after waiting for our song to come up for best part of an hour (water off a ducks back at the time, but the following incidents were not and should not be).
On asking why this had happened, we were instructed by the pretty unpleasant karaoke ‘host’ that we had selected a song too long, had taken up too much time already and that was it for us.
None of this is of any consequence in isolation, but what follows really is, needs to be addressed, and led to us to lodging two quite serious complaints - one to our ski company (understood and respectfully received) and one (bizarrely and defensively received) to the manager of both Le Taiga and Pub Le Ski Lodge in La Tania:
my sister went to ask the ‘host’ why we had been cut short, and to explain how inhospitable and unnecessary it was, and that we had managed as a group a grand total of one and a half songs when accused of having had many more in the hour we had been there. the ‘host’ and his thuggish friend then squared up to my sister, and his friend physically pushed/shoved her one of our companions approached him, seeing that he had physically pushed a 36yo woman, to be met with further hostility. no interception or protection offered by any of the staff members or their group present or witness needless to say, we left as a group - upset, shaken and disturbed by this incident almost immediately, after flagging what had happened to the on duty bar staff, who offered an uninterested and ‘computer says no’ response the next day, after skiing, we went to Pub Le Ski Lodge to find the manager (who i had identified at both bars, and explain/complain about the incident, which (on an otherwise idyllic holiday) had been an intensely upsetting and disturbing experience, not just for my sister and I but also our whole group. I was immediately met with defence, laughed at because I had a black eye (quote ‘I thought you were going to say you were punched’) which quite frankly wasn’t or wouldn’t have been ‘funny’ anyway. He defended and made me feel like I was unreasonable, then came outside to talk to my sister and I in a tone of ‘you should be pleased I came out’, instructed us that we had ‘chosen the wrong time to raise our incredibly valid and actually quite serious grievance, before actively saying that our verbal frustration and very real emotion about the incident and his reaction was ‘aggressive’. Which it was not, and so very telling of someone who quite clearly cannot take any assertion from women, or perhaps anyone at all.
When he saw me smile a little after, I was patronisingly told by the manager ‘see you have a lovely smile’. All round it was a crazy and shockingly awful incident and display of customer service.
I strongly advise not going near Le Taiga, or Pub Le Ski Lodge. (Although La Tania itself is delightful), and if you do - please call it out when you see disgusting behaviour from staff/seasonaires, or receive shocking customer service. I also advise a proper investigation into this incident / assault, that the sister bars management be held to account, and that disciplinary action is taken against the staff members and...
Read moreWe were recommended to come as our chalet is run by the owners of this restaurant. Unfortunately we were disappointed… the food was relatively good (bar some duck that clearly had been sat under a heater for 20 mins) our table of 15 still hadn’t seen their main courses until 2 hours after our booking. When ordering there was no indication of a long wait time and by the time our mains arrived the table had to force our meals down because we were no longer hungry. Everyone left upset that they couldn’t enjoy their food due to long wait times.
Staff seem nice bar one server. Everyone was completely disappointed by the turnaround and lack of communication in receiving our food. Furthermore one server laughed when we raised the issue which we eventually were able to discuss with management taking up a...
Read moreVisited with a group. For starter I chose the Salmon ceviche which was pretty tasteless. For main I chose the fillet steak and being a restaurant in France I asked for medium-well, expecting the equivalent of medium elsewhere. The first attempt was well done and tough, the second attempt only marginally better. In fact I would go as far as saying this was the worse steak I have ever eaten in France, and I’ve had a few. Dessert was a Kahlua Crème Brûlée. It was nice crème brûlée but I if there was any Kahlua it I would be surprised. To be fair the others in my group enjoyed their meals, the Sea Bass getting very favourable reports, so I guess I just made the...
