Pizzeria du Mottaret — Restaurant in Albertville

It's such a shame that there's a huge management issue here. HUGE. I visited with my parents on a Wednesday night in March. It all started well, we ordered a starter to share between the 3 of us and ordered a pizza each for our mains. We'd finished the starter and then sat waiting. And waiting. After around half an hour, one of the staff asked if we wanted to order coffee or desserts. We reminded them that we'd ordered pizzas and they seemed rather confused, but put chilli oil and pizza cutters on our table. Another ten, twenty minutes passes and all the other tables around us who arrived up to an hour after us are being served their pizzas. We asked twice what the delay was and each time were only told "it's coming". No apology for the delay, no admitting that they'd obviously not put our order in. We eventually got our pizzas, over an hour after we'd ordered them, and they were very tasty. We also ordered desserts which miraculously appeared after only a short wait. However, it was apparent by the time we came to ask for / pay the bill, that every member of staff was studiously ignoring us. Eventually we had to walk up to the bar to ask to pay, where the manager was sitting eating and made no effort to acknowledge us at all. It seemed as though the staff member who we finally managed to get to pick up a card machine was frightened of the manager sat at the bar. We've been coming here for years, the food is great but it seems as though the staff are being ruled by an iron fist that has zero customer service skills. We weren't rude, we were just fruatrated about being left in the dark about what had gone wrong, and if we'd only had an apology when our pizzas didn't arrive and an acknowledgement that a mistake had been made (which is fine, mistakes happen) then we would've been happy, rather than leaving with a bitter taste in our mouths despite the quality...

We were seated straight away even though we hadn't booked. Pleasant staff who spoke English which was appreciated for a couple of fine points but we gave the best French that we had which worked. Not much space for hanging coats and bags which for skiers is a bit of a pain... especially when it was as wet as it was today. We all agreed that our respective meals were good. It's not cheap, but pretty much the going rate in the mountains. The Planche du Mottarett that I had should have fed two people and everything was fresh and very tasty. I'd...

A big thank you to the chef and staff for making two of our meals in Meribel-Mottaret so memorable. The staff were friendly, attentive and responsive each time - even when very busy. The food was wonderful - thus the repeat visit. Our first night, we all had pizzas and everyone enjoyed their order, plus the green salad was fresh and a generous serving. Tonight, I chose the chicken in cream sauce with mushrooms and was so delighted. Perfect blend of flavors and prepared just right. Must try! Anyway, thank you for such a great experience....
