La Verrerie — Restaurant in Albi

We've just come back from a Friday to Sunday stay at the Hotel La Verriere in Gaillac near Toulouse, France.|This was a heavenly (paradise) experience from start to finish. The friendliness of all the staff of this family run hotel is fantastic. There is nothing too much that they do for you whether its a gin and tonic before supper, a glass of beer bought to you by their wonderful outdoor, secluded pool or an extra cup or two of coffee in the morning. The two crowning experiences were the evening meal we had on the Friday evening and sitting by the pool on Saturday morning before we left for a wedding near Lautrec. The meal was fabulous - I thought it was Michelin star quality, the two waiters were brilliant and after a tiring journey we felt thoroughly thrilled and revived by the experience. The next morning sitting in the tranquility of the pool area we found ourselves pledging to return again in September or October to this wonderful place. All this excellence is complemented by the helpful and very friendly attitude of the parents who run the hotel and their small group of staff including their brilliant chef daughter. Nous avons séjourné une nuit et comme à mon habitude, je vais être la plus objective et sincère Je vais parler du restaurant en premier car lui mérite les 4 étoiles pour la chef cuisinière si je fais abstraction du jeune serveur, lequel bien que presque professionnel manque énormément de sourire, de calme, d'empathie, j'j'ai eu l'impression qu'il subit son métier plutôt que de le vivre contrairement à son collègue, lequel me semble être le patron. Personne avenante, très souriant, très calme, de bon conseil et à l'écoute de ses clients. Foie gras pour 2 en entrée servi avant deuxième apéritif commandé, sans assiette qu'il a fallu demandée ! Donc foie gras très bon mais il a dû resté sur la table plus de 20mm avant qu'on ne le déguste aussi trop chaud, il avait commencé à fondre ! Pour suite repas, je recommande ❤️, c'est excellent ! Passons côté hôtel ! Nous avions réservé chambre pour pmr, ayant des problèmes de santé importants , donc chambre accessible car pas d'ascenseur dans l'hôtel. Chambre dite supérieure à 90 euros ! Chambre refaite à neuf d'après moi mais toile araignée dans chambre et dans salle de bain, Pour chambre supérieure, un seul rouleau toilette, lit 140, pas de mini bar, rien pour poser affaires de toilette, pas canal +, télé limite, douche chaude mais sans débit, chambre avec porte simple communiquante avec chambre d'à côté et à proximité de l'escalier pour chambres à l'étage !! Donc j'j'ai passé la nuit à écouter mon voisin de chambre à tousser toute la nuit 😓, et à entendre les clients monter hier soir et descendre ce matin pour petit déjeuner ! Volets laissant passer lumière sans rideau occultant et j'en passe ! Petit déjeuner à 10 euros, bonne prestation mais aucun geste commercial pour un client qui ne prend que 2 cafés sans rien à côté ! 5 euros un café, ça fait cher ! Sur note finale, aucun détail sur la restauration, c'c'est dommage ! Je ne mettrais aucune photo sur jacuzzi bien que j'en ai, le concept est bien mais il est vieillissant, ne nous a pas donné envie malgré le bien que cela peut me procurer pour ma pathologie ! Je pense sincèrement que cet hôtel rénové dans les normes en respectant les prix par rapport à ses inconvénients peut être un super endroit, on a eu un accueil très chaleureux, mais la chambre louée ne peut pas valoir le prix demandé !! Ça ne vaut pas les 3 étoiles ! J'j'ai photos de tout ce que j'ai écrit, je ne les mettrais pas par respect car je pense sincèrement que si les patrons sont les personnes qui nous ont accueillis ont du mérite mais les chambres pmr, personnes à mobilité réduite, ne peuvent pas...

Stayed here for two nights at the start of our holiday due to proximity to Toulouse airport. Wished we had stayed for longer. There’s a great feel and warmth to the place that stems from a very friendly owner and exceptional staff. It’s just a wonderful place to stay. It’s an authentic old country house that has been modernized to a high standard, rooms have air-con, there’s a great pool and even a bamboo park! The hotel lies just on the edge of Gaillac with its Abbey, park and very friendly locals. There’s plenty of hiking nearby and the tourist office provides great guidance and maps.
