L'atelier de Matt & Lulu — Restaurant in Annecy

The Best! On an impulse I purchased a baguette at the Spar at the start of our hike (still a bit warm), took a bite and it was sooooooooooo good! I could hardly wait for lunch to eat the rest. I pointed out the Matt and Lulu to my husband. Then on the way home, this establishment caught my eye and I told my husband we had to stop. It is a darling shop with all sorts of fun kitchen things, as well as honey, jams, and then there are all the delicious things. We limited ourselves to another baguette and a croissant, and oh my, that croissant! I have been in search of the perfect croissant ever since I first went to France 45 years ago (I'm from the US) and I believe I have found it. The crispiness that explodes when you break it, and the buttery inside that leaves your fingers greasy. IT WAS SO GOOD. Please go visit them if you are ever in the Annecy area- you won't regret it! A lovely patisserie, quite close to Annecy, right by the highway. The store is just charming and the hostesses are very friendly. Their pistache croissant and pain au Chocolat were perfect - flaky and just the right amount of sweetness. Eclaire with mango was more citrus than mango, but still delicious. The eclair was light and delicious. Chocolate mouse cake was a bit too dense for our taste. We couldn't have coffee there as the weather was cold and we didn't brave sitting outside. We bought their bottle of honey, which I hope is as good as their pastries.

It‘s probably a good thing that this bakery is so far from home for me (but I am gutted really!). Or else I would definitely be there absolutely every day. The pastry I had was just heavenly, crispy on the outside and light & fluffy on the inside and stuffed with delicately flavoured filling. The bread was wonderful too and all served with a smile by a very friendly lady. Do yourself a favour...
