Bacheto — Restaurant in Apt

Bacheto, Le Moulin de Lourmarin restaurant, is a great spot if you’re in the village of Lourmarin, which, by the way, is worth the visit.

The restaurant is in a restored mill, giving it a unique and cozy vibe. The decor has that Provencal touch that feels both rustic and homey.

I had the pavé de thon méditerranéen, and it was fantastic – a perfect blend of flavors and textures. The presentation was on point, and you could tell the ingredients were fresh and local. We had a great local red wine recommendation from the sommelier, and after our meal, our server introduced us to Genepi, a local digestive herbal liqueur that added a perfect ending touch to our meal.

The staff were super friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us some great recommendations.

We sat on the terrace, which was a real treat. Watching the sunset from our table added the Provencal touch to the evening.

Très mauvaise expérience. Quand vous regardez le menu à l'extérieur, les plats semblent un peu cher, mais vous imaginez que ça va être dû à la portion généreuse sans doute (on est loin de la côte ou des villes populeuses à touristes bon chic bon genre hein...).

On vous installe à table, et là on vous explique la douille, une fois que vous ne pouvez plus (enfin, si, vous pouvez, mais qui oserait franchement...) vous lever pour repartir sans commander. Ben oui, ce serait bien moins profitable de l'expliquer sur le menu dehors, bien moins de gens viendraient manger...

Le principe est un concept de partage: un plat posé au milieu de la table où chacun se sert. Super, vous imaginez donc des portions généreuses à la hauteur du prix. Mais non, c'est seulement sur le plat de charcuterie, celui de fromage et un autre. Tout le reste, c'est une portion individuelle, et la serveuse vous sort qu'il est recommandé de prendre 2 à 3 plats par personne pour faire un repas correct (à 15-30€ environ le plat n'est-ce pas...).

J'ai voulu commander le moins cher du menu, des pâtes avec des oeufs de poisson râpés dessus, à 15€, me disant que les pâtes, ça cale en principe. Il y en avait à peine assez pour nourrir un enfant de 10 ans, et les tranches ultrafines d'oeufs de poisson peinaient à occuper toute la surface du mini bol. Et ne les mangez surtout pas roulés dans les pâtes, vous n'en sentirez plus du tout le goût, c'est comme s'ils n'avaient jamais existé.

Je n'ai pas non plus apprécié la serveuse, qui, à peine la première bouchée avalée de nos plats arrive en demandant si on voulait commander autre chose. Merci le forcing...

Bref, pour ne pas ressortir la faim au ventre, on s'en est tirés à plus de 90€ à 2... Bien loin de ce que l'on s'était fixé. Mais bon c'est un peu notre faute, trop bons, trop cons, on n'a pas osé repartir avant de commander. Ah, mention spéciale à l'option "Ajouter un pourboire" au moment de payer par carte... Vous reprendrez bien un peu de forcing dissimulé en choix libre, non?

En résumé: restaurant attrape-pigeons peu culottés et trop introvertis où 2 choix vous avez: ressortir affamés mais en ayant dépensé le prix d'un menu complet dans n'importe quel autre restaurant ou repartir bien nourris mais avec un goût très désagréable laissé en bouche par la note hyper salée à l'arrivée...

Bref, très mauvaise pub pour Lourmarin qui n'a déjà pas grand-chose à offrir à part son château, la tombe d'Albert Camus pour ceux qui ont l'esprit morbide et voyeur, et certaines de ses ruelles...

We were recommended Bacheto at the Le Moulin hotel for an elevated Provençal lunch and it did not disappoint. We showed up without a reservation on a Monday for lunch, but a bit late so the wait for a table wasn’t more than 5 minutes. Ordered the poulpe aux agrumes (octopus with citrus fruit) and the poisson méditerrannéen (Mediterranean fish) and both were absolutely fresh and delicious. Both were enough for a light lunch for two, and on a summer day, they felt refreshing. For dessert we had the pavlova aux agrumes, which again was a spectacular idea for a hot day.
