Cafe Royal is located along Pl. Mgr Laurence just outside the south entrance to the Lourdes Sanctuary grounds. This is a well located, typical French bistro with fair sized indoor seating area along with outdoor tables. Opening hours are 8am to 2am daily. They offer an all day menu with French and other tourist friend dish choices.
Service was polite and timely during our meal. Prices lean towards the higher end of the spectrum while food quality wasn't bad. Steak was nicely grilled at medium temperature and served with fries. It was decent. Duck confit was better, this was a flavourful and somewhat succulent duck leg. It was also served with fries.
In the end, not a first choice restaurant for us but if you are wanting a sit down near the sanctuary, this is about as close as you are going to get and the food and service are...
Read moreVery friendly, good food, great service. The lunch deal is pretty good compare to surrounding. I had the meal of the day: roast pork. The pork has 20 % grey meat, and a tiny layer of fat on skin. I really liked the fried squeezed mesh potato. Dessert can choose. I chose the strawberry tart (over strawberry on muffin). It was good until i tasted something funny. I asked the waiter if it has alcohol. He said no. And so i stopped eating. Ge then took it and asked the kitchen. And then threw away the rest. He said it has a bit of rum in it. Then he let me choose from the whole tray, and i picked the apple pie. Oh man, this apple pie is great! Slices of apple burned on top in good combination of pie stuffing on a firm crust. On top of the pie, there is honey. Every bite is a bliss of delicious. Very nice customer...
Read moreVisited the cafe twice today, during our stay in Lourdes. The first time it was Lucas who served us and he was so accommodating and fluent in English. The calamari was terrible but the hot chocolate wasn’t too bad. I don’t recommend the coffee and the illes flottante. The second time we were served by a different server who wasn’t helpful at all. This time I had the vanilla ice cream with half a tinned pear and a dash of choc sauce. The pear was spoilt and the staff merely shrugged their shoulders when we brought it to their notice. Lovely location to people watch, shame about the food. Lucas...
