Restaurant Le Carrefour Café — Restaurant in Argelès-Gazost

The first thing you notice when you come in here is the vast collection of football scarves and shirts plastered on the walls and ceilings. I even saw an old Dreamcast Arsenal shirt from way back in the day and a PSG scarf these guys clearly like football.

The great thing about this restaurant is they have menus for different languages to save you the struggle of trying your best to decipher a full French menu which i found very helpful.

I decided to go for The Regional set menu which for €21 wasnt half bad. The Starter consisted of a very well presented local pate with baby gherkins, bread and a lovely salad with balsamic glaze. I didnt want it too end it was beautiful and fresh and just the right amount for a starter.

Main course was a rib eye steak and chips with a tiny amount of garlic butter and the lovely salad again. The steak was very thin and was more medium than medium rare but what do you expect for €21

Finally the options for dessert are a pastry or ice cream. I have gone for the mango ice cream which has melted whilst doing this review but it is quite nice and fresh especially after all of that food.

For drinks i had a small Bordeaux and quite lucky i ordered a small because a small for €5.50 equates too a small caraffe with a tiny glass. As far as Bordeaux goes this one was quite nice. Not too dry, fruity, very palatable and just the right amount. All in all a great little French adventure perhaps i shall...

In total a good place

When I came in I spoke French, the waiter talked to me in English. So there was a bit of confusion in our conversation but eventually we got it somehow.

My mother and me were there for lunch. We ordered some Chicken Nuggets and a hamburger which will be cooked according to your preference. The meals came out quickly which is good.

The burger was good, can't complain about that one. The nuggets were fried for a bit too long but they were still fine to eat.

The prices for beverages are a bit higher than in other places. 4.10 euros for half a litre of still water is a slightly bit expensive.

The place is definitely made for football fans with many scarfs hanging from the wall. I imagine watching football here will be fun.

After traveling over six hours from Austria to Paris and then to Lourdes by flight and train, we were exhausted and hungry. We arrived at the restaurant around 10 minutes before the kitchen closed and ordered promptly. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there.

First, the prices were shockingly high—€18 for just a bowl of soup felt incredibly overpriced. Even worse, the atmosphere was terrible. The entire restaurant, both inside and outside, reeked of cigarette smoke. As someone with asthma and bronchitis, this was not only unpleasant but actually dangerous for my health. I had to leave quickly, and I was coughing and sneezing all night afterward due to all the secondhand smoke. There was no designated non-smoking area, which is unacceptable.

To make matters worse, our waiter was dismissive and more attentive to other customers who arrived after us. Overall, the service, atmosphere, and pricing were a huge disappointment. I won’t be coming back and wouldn’t recommend it to others—especially if you have any respiratory issues.

Après plus de six heures de voyage depuis l’Autriche jusqu’à Paris, puis Lourdes en avion et en train, nous étions épuisés et affamés. Nous sommes arrivés au restaurant environ 10 minutes avant la fermeture de la cuisine et avons passé commande à temps. Malheureusement, l'expérience s'est rapidement dégradée.

Tout d'abord, les prix étaient choquants : 18 € pour un simple bol de soupe, c’est extrêmement cher. Pire encore, l’atmosphère était horrible. Le restaurant, à l’intérieur comme à l’extérieur, empestait la fumée de cigarette. En tant que personne asthmatique et atteinte de bronchite, c’était non seulement désagréable, mais dangereux pour ma santé. J’ai dû partir rapidement, et j’ai passé la nuit à tousser et éternuer à cause de toute cette fumée secondaire. Il n'y avait aucun espace non-fumeur désigné, ce qui est inacceptable.

Pour couronner le tout, notre serveur était peu attentionné et s’occupait davantage des clients arrivés après nous. En résumé, service, ambiance et prix étaient une vraie déception. Je ne reviendrai pas, et je ne recommande pas ce lieu, surtout si vous avez des problèmes...
