Restaurant Chez LY — Restaurant in Argelès-Gazost

Overrated on this thread. Visited Saturday 8th June 2019 in the evening. Service was lovely and the atmosphere on the terrace nice, but the food I ordered was not authentic Vietnamese. The Pho had no fresh herbs or chillis which is disappointing as I'm sure at least fresh coriander, mint and chillis can be found in the south of France (even if thai/asian basil and other herbs would be expecting too much). The soup tasted ok but was not clear and a bit oily, but the main complaint was on the herbs - without those, it's not a Pho! The less said about the starter the better. I ordered "Vietnamese crepe with pork" hoping it would be Banh Xeo but it was a strange french-style crepe with minced pork and a side salad of lettuce with sliced tinned pork, beansprouts and fried onions. Wine was good. Not awful, but was expecting better based on...

This place is kind of hidden in the back, so you pass it up easily. I had pork and shrimp tid-bits, along with pork\onion served with rice. The pork was tender and flavorful, the rice soft and fluffy. The view here is amazing, right on top of a hill. The decor is modern and well kept. Very clean. No air conditioning just a few fans going, but I didn’t mind. The service is spot on, with no long wait for food either. also the have a bar🙂

Service very rude. Only one of the servers was friendly, the others were rude and condescending. Starters were very good but Pho and noodles were bland.

And then when we came to pay the order had not been taken down properly, so we had to wait standing while the total was calculated rather unprofessionally, and the waiter asking us what we had ordered again so they could figure out the total.

I would not recommend this place...
