On our first , rainy day I n the small Provençal village of St. Remy Fr, we looked for a Sunday dinner spot that was open at about 5 pm. After looking over a few of the options around the central parking lot( which a helpful local told us, was free on Sunday!), we ended up walking into Cafe La Place. It seemed a bit posh for what we wanted but the rain convinced us to stay. The menu offered something called A Bao Burger, which seemed out of place, but was reasonably priced. Imagine our surprise when these two plates arrived , beautifully presented, with two smallis burgers tucked into two bao buns, along with a delicious green salad and a pile of excellent fries! We took a bite and looked st each other in amazement as we enjoyed one of the best meals we’d had in a while. Nice service, reasonable pricing and lovely surroundings. The service was nice but not over done. Absolutely recommend taking a chance here. Huge sheltered patio even usable in the rain! I suppose children would be welcome but it is a white table cloth ambiance. The other dishes we saw also looked delicious and ours filled us up nicely. So much fun to stumble across such a...
Read moreLe Café de la Place - 11 Nov - 3 people - Lunch. We just had driven for 4 hours to get to St. Remy and when we arrived it was already 3pm so we were concerned we wouldn’t be able to eat anywhere. Fortunately they were very nice and let us eat from their brunch menu. We ordered a 1 melted camembert to share, 2 croque monsieur with truffle and 1 mini burgers. Everything was delicious. We ordered 1 bottle of rosé wine, when we wanted to order another one they had run out so they offered another wine which was more expensive but keeping the same price as the first, and we were so shocked about how good that wine was, we ordered a third bottle and stayed all afternoon at their terrace. The place is very cute. I didn’t give 5 stars because they do have heaters in the terrace but constantly turn then off so had to get some blankets, and the service was a bit slow and forgot to order one of the dishes so it came later. But overall the place, food, drinks and price was fantastic. Our total check for food, water, diet cokes and 3 bottles of rosé wine came up to 150€ including tip. Would reccomend...
Read moreSure you're in France and you are tired of the same old burgers and fries, or scratch pizza from one of a hundred bistros. SO, THAT being said, now is the time to make your move to some of the most delicious culinary genius available. Please, don't tell anybody about your experience, I promise you there will be a waiting list weeks in advance. There appears to be a competition between the wait staff and the kitchen. Seems like the computerized order taking process keeps the wait staff running from the kitchen to their attending tables. The kitchen staff displayed extreme discipline with its five members operating machine like. Every station has practiced their art and without displaying any stress. The finished product, a masterpiece, repeated again and again. I would suggest, if you're looking for some fun time, make Cafe la Place your next stop. Enjoy, or as the French say,...
