Disappointed, despite a beautiful setting
We came to Toute une Époque with high hopes, drawn by the cozy look and good reviews. The ambiance was warm, and the Burrata salad was actually lovely—fresh tomatoes, creamy cheese, and melon slices that felt like a summer hug.
Unfortunately, that’s where the good part ended.
The risotto with prawns was a big letdown: the prawns were mushy, had a strong off-putting smell, and tasted far from fresh. I gently mentioned this to the staff—not to return the dish, just as an honest feedback—but instead of taking a quick sniff or acknowledging my concern, I received a seafood lecture: “That’s just how prawns smell in this region.” 🦐🤷♀️
The linguine was bland enough that even my daughter (who usually loves pasta!) gave up halfway. And the chicken nuggets were sadly dry and powdery inside—like rehydrated breadcrumbs trying to be food. The only seasoning seemed to be… ketchup from the packet.
What disappointed me most wasn’t the food, honestly—it happens. But the lack of listening and the defensive attitude made it worse. A simple “let me check” or “sorry you didn’t enjoy it” would’ve made all the difference. Instead, I left with a full stomach but a slightly bruised mood.
This may be “a whole era” (toute une époque), but for me, it was a short chapter I...
Read moreIf possible, I would give this place 0 stars. My mother and I (Americans) visited this place earlier in the day and the manager refused to serve us. I speak French, and the server told us in both French and English that the place is closed the remainder of the day and all day tomorrow. So, we went across the street to eat. Upon leaving our restaurant, we observed that Toute une Epoque, is, in fact, open for business. This restaurant discriminated against us, and I am infuriated. I am not sure if they discriminated against us because we are American, or because I look like someone of Latin descent. Either way, such behavior is intolerable in today's society. I recommend Cafe de la Place across the street. The staff is very friendly and the...
Read moreWent here with my husband on our first night in town. It was extremely disappointing. I had the fish, which was actually good. Seasoned well, cooked perfectly. My husband got the steak. It was the toughest cut of meat that we’ve ever tasted. It was impossible to cut or chew. Absolutely awful. To top it off, the staff is just rude. This is my third trip to France and I understand that my French isn’t good, however I got the feeling that they did not want us there at all. The rudeness was very intentional. It really soured our evening. Do not spend...
