Steak. I went to this restaurant 2 nights in a row and ordered filet of beef. 1st night: I ordered it "medium"(it came perfectly medium rare, the outside was glazed meaning crisp and the sugars had started to burn creating wonderful flavor barely cooked in the middle but still warm. This is how I like my steak. 2nd night: it came to me cooked medium, a very little bit of pink without any glazing on the outside and the cooked part was grey colored, which is usually what I have gotten here in France when I order medium rare. At another restaurant it was 1/2 inch thick brown on the outside, grey inside and cold...So, I still don't know how to order steak in France to get what I want, but the first night, the steak was of good quality (better than any other I have gotten in France) and cooked perfect for me. The second night still better than any other restaurant, although the quality wasn't as good and it wasn't cooked to my liking. The crabcakes are OK. Deserts are OK. The service was very good. The fireplace is wonderful. I could hear the owner/host arguing with the staff...I am a Texan granddaughter of rancher who likes grass fed, dry aged beef cooked medium rare. I don't think they know what aging beef means in France, even though they are gastronomique! Best of luck getting it cooked how you want. The beef was fresh and hadn't been sitting in a freezer for months/years. The vegetables were good - a bit overcooked to my liking, but not mush, which is the usual for French restaurants. Overall, yes I would go back and try to be specific as to how I like my steak. The waiter seems more knowledgable about food than the...
Read moreBased on reviews, i booked this restaurant for my family of 5 when visiting Avignon and Les Baux. We have some food restrictions and I was a little concerned so when I made the reservation by email, I asked whether we could be accommodated. My email was promptly answered, and our reservations were made. This was a very cozy, off the beaten tack restaurant with a warm ambiance. The owner was so welcoming when we came in and she and the chef were so happy to cater to our food needs. And the food - we all LOVED everything - so much so that it was a bit embarrassing that as our plates were cleared away, they looked almost clean. We had each finished every morsel and swept up any sauces or dressing with the delicious bread. Additionally, their recmmendations for wines was also perfect! I highly recommend trying this...
Read moreThis is a classic French restaurant- and I agree totally with Richard’s review. But. If you are used to eating in fast food, quick service restaurants don’t bother coming here - it’s just not for you! The whole experience needs time and yes, things could be a bit faster - especially at the beginning in delivering menus and drinks - but after that the whole experience is very much worth any wait encountered. The quality of the food -especially the presentation and flavour combinations are well worth waiting for - after all it does take time to properly cook quality ingredients from scratch- and not many places do...
