Bar le Relax — Restaurant in Avallon

Bar Le Relax is a small bistro with a big heart! The owners JeanLuc and Mireille were so gracious and friendly—the service was excellent, the food great and we had the best time. We barely speak French but JeanLuc sat down with us, poured us some champagne and then talked with us (in French) for quite some time and worked to make sure we understood. It seems like it is a place where locals go but they made us feel at home and welcome. Definitely worth getting off the A6 and visiting....

The Brasserie doesn't look special from outside but it has something special inside. The menu card is limited, the food pretty cheap BUT the presentation and taste of the menus is very good. We had chicken with cream/herb sauce and beef carpacho and it was 10 Euro each and very very good. The host of the Brasserie is exceptionell. Friendly and looks for the guests all the time. Doesn't look special...

Un OVNI en pleine cambrousse ! Les clients sifflent du rouge comme de vieux troubadours, et le patron semble tout droit sorti d’un roman de Giono… ou d’un western bien sec. Ambiance brute, sans chichis, mais authentique. Le vin coule, les langues aussi, et les prix sont restés bloqués dans une autre époque. Un détour incontournable pour qui aime l’authenticité… et les personnages hauts en couleur. Il nous a offert un pack de 6 verres, dignes d’un vase ! Petite attention pour notre futur marié ! 5 étoiles mais si je pouvais j’en mettrais 6 Ça vaut le détour...
