L 'Horloge — Restaurant in Avallon

I recently dined here, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. When I arrived, I was told that the restaurant was full, despite several open tables being clearly visible. This initial interaction left a bad taste in my mouth, as it felt like they were either disorganized or simply didn’t value their customers. I most likely think they didn’t want to deal with costumers that didn’t speak French…

After finally being seated, I ordered a steak, specifying that I wanted it cooked medium. However, when my meal arrived, the steak was severely undercooked. This was frustrating, but I was hungry and didn’t want to wait any longer, I assumed it was normal for French steak so I reluctantly ate what I could.

Regrettably, the worst part of the experience came later. The next day, I developed severe food poisoning. This experience not only ruined my night but left me wary of ever returning. I needed pills to stop the bathroom issues, that...

We sheltered from the rain here and ended up eating lunch! We had a two course meal opting for a main and desert. The mains were very easy to eat, the burger was delicious and the chips very nice. The food seems simple (few elements to each dish) and made of tasty ingredients. For the children I wished they offered condiments but perhaps that's an English thing not French. The puddings were ridiculously yummy and the panna cotta was worth the calories!!! We had a nice carafe of wine and generally enjoyed ourselves with a view over the old streets. Wow. The most appalling manager. Brought a couple of minor issues to his attention at the point of paying. Could have been resolved so easily but instead got a bag of abuse. Average food, no vegetarian options, not cheap, aggressive mgt. Tourist joint, trading off the likelihood they will never see you again. if i could give a minus star, I would. avoid...
