El Taquito — Restaurant in Avignon

THEY MAKE THEIR OWN CORN TORTILLAS AND SALSA! In 15 years of expatriation this is the only authentic Mexican food in France (so far). And, by the way, I’m an American from Chicago and a lifelong eater of Mexican food. I’ve been living in France most of my life since 2007 = not a tourist/not passing through. The staff is nice and friendly and the food gives a satisfaction I may never have had in Europe before today.

Had vegetarian nachos and fish tacos. Nachos were 5 stars and fish tacos were 4 stars. I prefer fish on the tacos to be spicy and grilled, but here the fish was fried but still very tasty and flakey.

The host and cook (same person) was very courteous and spoke enough English. The place became very busy just when they opened at 7pm, and he handled the crowd and cooking very well. Great experience and great...

What a freakin gem in Avignon. We found it a bit difficult to find food we really liked in Avignon as most places are bad tourist spots. El Taquito is a huge exception - absolutely spectacular food. We are originally from Arizona, so Mexican food holds a special place for us and we are very critical, but this place delivered beyond any expectation. I wish we had...
