Ugh. Don’t go. We wish we hadn’t. The food was stodgy and bland, like food court Asian food. The bad kind. After reading all the good reviews and a few weeks in France we were keen to try some different flavours. I wish I could write a more positive review but honestly I don’t understand all the positive reviews. The service was very slow and haphazard. Our entrees; chicken ‘soup’ (more like scrambled egg) and duck were ok. Our mains came out and on first glance my husband didn’t even realise they’d brought him the squid instead of lamb because it was so covered in batter. Once we got the correct food - he the lamb and I the General Tso chicken - we were even more disappointed. No flavour and it left us feeling bloated and angry we wasted our money. If you feel like being taken for a ride, with poor quality food (some uneatable) and high prices, go to Umami! In addition, your table will be uneven (and not fixed), 2 waitress will come one after the other to ask if you are ready to order (obviously no sections system), you will be not offered a glass of wine with your meal and you will be treated like a number (or a tourist) by angry staff. Absolute rip off at $46 euros per head for lunch. I understand now why the french gastronomy profession is pushing for mandatory diplomas for chefs and waiters. Too much abuse in this profession towards tourists (although i am French). Un grand merci à Marilyne pour son accueil chaleureux à l'heure bien tardive de 14h. Arrivé ici sous les conseils d'une antiquaire de la ville alors que j'étais en ballade touristique, je me suis retrouvé soudainement à l'étranger avec ce poulet Tao qui m'aura fait rêver d'exotisme en cet hiver ... L'équipe soudé est au top malgré les énormes difficultés que les restaurateurs traversent en ce moment, j'ai pu manger comme à l'ombre de cocotiers sur un belle plage en ces jours de janvier ... Ce restaurant est un must dans la commune: pas énorme, voire discret, on peut vite passer à côté sans imaginer les pépites qui mijotent en marmite, le sourire et la bonne humeur de la patronne canadienne finira par vous faire croire que le bonheur est encore possible en ces temps difficiles. Venant dans cette belle commune provençale en général cinq à six fois par an, il est juste évident que j'irai manger à chaque passage chez Umami pour revoir cette Marilyne qui vous fera en compagnie de son mari aux fourneaux, voyager bien au delà de vos espérances ...
