Au Soleil — Restaurant in Béziers

We drove by the town to check out the beach, and decided to stop for a quick lunch, 4 of us were not too hungry, so decided to order 3 items to share, but was forced to order 4 dishes even though it was a quiet afternoon and not busy at all, manager or owner never smile the whole time we were there, when we just want water we were told to order a €6.50 bottled water while they gave other table just regular water, I don’t mind paying extra if we feel welcome but that’s not the case, mussels we had are not the freshest. One of the worst dining experience I’ve had, and had to pay cash as we were told no CC ! I hope the way we were treated is not because we don’t look and speak French, the manager or the owner ruined the image of all the other friendly and courteous people we met...

One of a kind restaurant! Nicely located in front of the old harbour, quiet and scenic landscape for lunch or dinner. From start to finish it has been a pleasure! Great selection of drinks and nibbles. We opted for the friture to share (small deep fried fish) with an ice cold beer. Then we had royal seabream, marinière mussels! The food is fresh and tasty, cooked with great care. We tried the roasted ananas for dessert and what a surprise it has been, so tasty, even though I am not keen on hot ananas, I love it! the food was good, fish well cooked. The servers were kind and polite. However the interior was disorderly with scooters and children car seats on tables. The one start goes mostly to the owner/manager who was extremely rude, we felt sorry for the staff that had to work for him, he tried to get us to leave as we were about to start our coffe so he could fit in more customers when it came to paying he was snappy with us. Never have I felt used coming out of a restaurant. You could tell all he wanted was the pay and didn’t care for customer...
