Canard Laqué — Restaurant in Béziers

We have had amazing Spanish tapas and French cuisine. After nearly two weeks and a bout of stomach flu, my appetite returned and I craved Vietnamese food. We found this little restaurant in the middle of Béziers, France.

It seemed like they were highlighting the Bún Thang--a very Hanoi/Northern Vietnamese dish. So we got that and also the Bún Bò.

The Bún thang was wonderful. The broth light, sweet, savory yet hearty. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The chả lụa fluffy and savory with the perfect texture. Even the chicken was great. One of the best Bún thang I've ever had. The only thing that would have made it perfect was some cà cuống (impossible to find).

The Bún bò Chả giò. The egg rolls were super flavorful with just the right amount of crispy, savory flavor. The beef was well seasoned perfectly with hints of lemon grass and fish sauce. The roasted peanuts added a crunchy texture. The nước mắm pha sẵn was light and acidic. Delicious and satisfying.

We also had Gỏi cuốn as a "dessert". The mint and Vietnamese coriander blended wonderfully with the shrimp and Chả lụa that was used in place of pork. Truly a treat.

It's great to know that Vietnamese restaurants like this exist. I am glad we came here and highly recommend you try it if ever you find yourself in the Occitanie region in one of the oldest, continuously occupied towns in...

Je suis allée souvent au Restaurant Asiatique Vietnamien , vers le milieu des années 90 avant d'être infirme, le patron de l'époque , un dénommé Georges Chang, Cantonnais d'origine me prit en affection, ce qui est très rare pour un Asiatique , les bols de riz parfumés débordaient , les rouleaux de printemps et les nems généreux .... En fin de repas il m'était offert un thé au citron et la plupart du temps je prenais en plus pour l'accompagner du nougat vietnamien, à droite en rentrant dans le restaurant il y avait un Bouddha assis de bronze et des coupelles d'encens fumaient en permanence.... Un jour j'y ai rencontré deux femmes de passage originaire de la ville d'Orléans , la mère et une de ses filles adoptives, Caroline, fille du frère , un ancien sous officier militaire,de mon grand père paternel Robert , elles étaient accompagnées d'un petit chien blanc et s'étaient enivrées , menant grand tapage dans le restaurant , ce fût Chang qui les mit poliment et gentiment à la porte ... Puis la petite Vi est née , des lanternes de papiers roses tournoyaient au plafond du Restaurant Le Canard Laqué comme mues par une légère brise printanière... Ce samedi soir là Georges Chang voulut à tout prix que je prenne une tasse de saké , il alla chercher une énorme bouteille de verre épais vert foncé dans laquelle un serpent lové crochets dénudés baignait dans l'alcool , n'y tenant pas trop car n'aimant pas trop les boissons alcoolisées, je finis par avaler la tasse, cul sec comme lui et je crachais le 🔥.... Ce fût ma mère ce soir là qui fût contente en venant me chercher au Restaurant vers 23h00, j'étais ivre mort et ne savais plus où j'habitais.... Sur le chemin du retour résidant en rase campagne , il m'a semblé apercevoir à plusieurs reprises La Dame Blanche qui selon la légende à une sinistre réputation Ce dimanche là à midi pour le déjeuner , j'étais ce mendiant, ce petit singe égaré, d'un soleil froid d'hiver qui est venu frapper à la porte du Restaurant Le Canard Laqué , Georges Chang me reçu, désolé , car le Restaurant Vietnamien était complet... En face de la porte d'entrée entourée de garçons Caroline ma cousine adoptive, elle avait changé depuis ces dernières années belle et plantureuse, j'ai appris que Georges Chang était devenu son Amant.... Je recommande Le Restaurant Vietnamien Le Canard Laqué car l'on y mange vraiment très bien pour un prix raisonnable, le Restaurant est très propre et soigné à l'ambiance calme égrainé de musique asiatique relaxante et les tables sont mises en valeur...

Canard Laqué is an excellent and truly authentic Vietnamese restaurant. They have the best Vietnamese spring rolls, salads, and pho I’ve ever had — everything is freshly made with quality ingredients. We stayed in Béziers for just one day and chose to have both lunch and dinner here, that’s how much we loved it!
