The dinner I had here is definitely the highlight meal of all my dining around Normandy. The restaurant has a very intimate setting due to its small size and small staff with only two people working in it, a chef and a waitress. Despite this though, our waitress was wonderful and was always very attentive. Something to note is that due to the small staff and the level of care given to each dish, don't expect this to be a fast-paced dining experience.

Needless to say though, the dishes were a wonderful experience with unique and delicious flavors that emphasize the freshness and quality of each ingredient. I had ordered the guinea fowl for my main course/plat and the quality of the meat was superb and paired with a nice sauce. The dessert was also a standout as the fresh fruit in my tiramisu really stood out. The cheese with honey was also delicious. I also have to note that while I didn't order it, the steak for two looked amazing and was something I regret not suggesting my group to order.

My group was lucky to have gotten a table without reservations but due to the small size of the restaurant, I would still highly recommend making a...

Our dining experience at Gourmandise & Tradition in Bayeux was truly exceptional, thanks in large part to the wonderful host, Gwendoline. Her warm hospitality made our visit even more memorable.

We enjoyed a delightful meal to share, starting with prime beef on the bone, which was perfectly cooked and served with delicious potatoes. The flavours were rich and satisfying, making it a standout dish. To finish, we indulged in a crème brûlée that was simply divine, with a perfectly crisp caramelised top and creamy custard beneath.

To complement our meal, we had a bottle of local Normandy cider, which was refreshing and paired beautifully with the food. The combination of excellent cuisine, charming atmosphere, and Gwendoline's attentive service made for an unforgettable dining experience.

Overall, Gourmandise & Tradition is a must-visit for anyone in Bayeux. The quality of the food and the exceptional service make it a top choice for a...

Worst experience in a while stay away, I have no idea how this is possibly any more than a 2 star. For starters there dining room was 100 degrees and infested with flies, Saturday at 9pm and the fluorescent lights were turned up all the way. You could manage with that as long as you did not order the cheese course as it sits out on the counter with the flies all over it… the breaking point is when you have to wait 40minutes and not even and drink order taken. At that point we left, shameful representation of a restaurant, complete opposite of gourmand. I’m not sure if this is discrimination due to being English-speaking, But quite frankly, this little town of Bayeux really needs to realize their entire economy relies on tourism and a tapestry…

Edit: the drinks not paid she is referring to is the tap water… we...

Husband chef and wife who mange’s and runs the restaurant.. this is a gem of a French restaurant, and you must book. I imagine walk in’s would be lucky to get in. Lots of small touches like welcome food taster ( a small thimble of vichychoise soup in our case) , French crusty rustic bread and water. Small table d’hôtel menu with one choice of fish or meat main course ( both outstanding as we had both) innovative entrees and desserts ( mine was rhubarb flan with homemade icecream) they also offer a cheese course.

Superb! Gwendoline runs front by herself and is friendly, charming, and efficient even when the restaurant is full. Multilingual and happy to explain menu items to tourists. Thibault produces amazing food from a kitchen that is incredibly small - a yacht galley is bigger! Great food, all locally sourced and the menu changes daily depending on produce. Worth checking on the day just to avoid allergies or issues. Beautifully presented and full of flavour, definitely worth all 4 courses.
