We just had a wonderful meal in this charming restaurant which opened in Biarritz in June 2025. The proprietress, Morgan, who runs the front room, and her partner, who is the chef, moved their restaurant to Biarritz after 6 years in Bayonne. What a treasure this is!
After spending the week in Biarritz, taking advantage of the huge variety of restaurants, wine bars, bistros and cafes, my husband and I had agreed to have a light meal with no alcohol before starting our journey homeward the next day. With a quick look at Google maps, we zeroed in on “A.M.” based on the good reviews and were greeted warmly and seated at a table by the window.
Well, after a look at the menu, we broke our agreement and went with the moment and neither of us regrets it. My God, the food was divine. We were treated so well during the meal, it was magical.
I had a duck with a mushroom sauce served on whipped potatoes, a Granny Smith apple and red onion chutney, along with a nut paste that I couldn’t quite identify with my taste buds — but it was awesome! I rarely order duck and yet tonight, it was the choice of a lifetime. Best meal in Biarritz for me.
My husband had a pork belly dish with sweet potato and roasted red onion. Delicate flavors abounded and there were many murmurs of satisfaction during the meal.
Of course, we broke our “no alcohol” agreement too and didn’t regret that either. The wine pairings were excellent, thanks to Morgan’s recommendations. She noted that she doesn’t serve any wine that she doesn’t like herself. Well done, Morgan!
On to dessert, me: “l’exotique” - fresh mango and pineapple with a scoop of mango sorbet and a side of rum and banana whipped cream topped with toasted coconut. 😍
He had a chocolate “biscuit” with a fascinating peanut cream on the side and whipped cream with peanuts and crispy cookie crumbs on top of it all. Magnifique!
We rolled ourselves out of the restaurant, thanking them graciously and took a stroll through town to facilitate the evening’s digestion. And so ends our adventure in Biarritz.
Thank you, A.M, for a truly memorable...
Read moreto any foreign tourist, beware of this place just don't go there the portions there are super tiny, you couldn't literally feed a small kid with that super tiny portion after finishing the dish [accomplished in a minute, maybe even less after the dish got delivered to me] I literally asked the waitress where around that place could be a McDonald's since I was very hungry she took it like a joke, but it wasn't actually a joke, and I'm not a big eater after leaving the place I directly went to a nearby carrefour shop where I bought some crackers in order to feed myself a bit imagine paying 32 euros [40 USD] for a dish in a restaurant, and you still need to buy some crackers in a deli just because you literally ate like nothing at that resto ? only in france the dish itself was heavily underseasoned, it was so bland that I was instantly looking for salt and pepp guess what ? no such thing on the table, I actually needed to ask for salt and pepp in normal countries, where people are just ok, you've salt and pepp on the table waiting for usage like by default, or if you're ordering a dish then the salt and pepp get delivered to you by default without any asking here in france you need to get up of your table and ask for those this place looks like a scam to me, so I don't really recommend it for anybody, unless your stomach has a volume of...
Read moreI had a really bad experience in this tea room a few days ago and was checking to see if there had been any experiences as unfortunate as mine. I returned there on the occasion of a visit to Bayonne that I know very well, and I was very sorry to have still not received any apology from the manager that day of september 2020 ...
I do not hold a grudge against the staff for an inexcusable attitude but I believe that it will be impossible for me to return there in a personal and private capacity and all the foreign friends, like my friends of the region to whom I have told my story. 'never understood that there was no intervention by the management of this establishment. Unfortunately, I think that such attitudes are detrimental to tourism in this...
