OK so I heard this was the best coffee in BAB. And I did not eat the food, so I cannot comment on the food. It is definitely not the best coffee, at the moment I would reserve that for Loky not far away in Biarritz - a small hole in the wall place that’s much better as far as coffee is concerned.
So, here is what happened… I ordered a cappuccino paid for it at the counter, and it came with the tiniest head of foam, and the temperature was OK. But they did present it to me spilled into the saucer. So presentation was not a priority for them, or at least the barista who made it. I drank it, and it was OK.
Then I did talk to one of the staff members and mentioned that I heard this was the best coffee, however, the presentation was lackluster. He asked me if I wanted anything else and I said sure I’ll have a decaf cappuccino and specifically asked for a large head of foam. I did hear him ask for “full foam!” … but I got the same tiny layer of foam, and the coffee was super way too hot, undrinkable, and the taste actually was not good, the milk was burnt. Total bummer, because I went there maybe with too much expectation, and I was really excited to find the best coffee I could in the region.
The atmosphere was good, and there were a lot of staff. However, although I was there for the next hour and did not drink the coffee, no one approached me to check on it or try to sort me out. I went to pay for it, and they looked at my table where they saw my full cup, and they did not offer it for free. So I did pay 4 euro for the failed decaf cappuccino as 5 staff looked on, thus they were standing by that as they’re offering.
I don’t normally write reviews, but I just want anybody who’s really into coffee, to beware that, as far as coffee goes, there’s a lot of room for...
Read moreGreat food, the cakes are delicious and the lunch options are really original if not a little overpriced. I loved it in Les Halles but unfortunately since it moved here the odd house rules always seem to spoil the experience. Strangely, although we reserved the table for 6 we had to wait standing awkwardly in the cold doorway for 30 minutes until the last member of our party arrived. I’m not sure why we weren’t allowed to sit and order drinks in the meantime if the table was reserved and empty, especially as we were blocking people from coming in.
I have also been asked to leave in the past, after being seated, as we ordered cakes and coffee and not lunch although it wasn’t midday yet and we were in the café section. I would understand if it were just a restaurant and if it didn’t have ‘café’ in the name. It does seem a little greedy to refuse seats to paying customers ordering products you sell in the hope of making a few extra euros per cover but I guess that remains at the discretion of the management. But it is also the reason why everyone I know...
Read moreAvoid at all cost. The price you pay there is just outrageous . I had the brunch which is 32€. You get an avo toast (or pancakes) which is as single 15€. A coffe and juice as single 5€ and 2€. Now the last item you get is a mini granola (or banana bread) which is literally a two spoon glass. This would be worth 10€ which is just ridiculous. Youre better off taking two times avo toast and a coffe and it will be the same price. I confronted them how they get to that price of 32€ and the waitress also didnt know and even while asking their manager I did not get an answer. This is really just a rip off.
My wife got just the avo toast but without cheese and egg because she is pregnant and you shouldnt eat stuff which is not 100% cooked and it was no price reduction.
Basically two avo toasts a coffe, a juice and two spoons of granola cost us 50.50€.
I would never go there again and you shouldnt either. there are far better cafes here for...
