Bellini — Restaurant in Bayonne

Really quite annoying!! We have visited this small restaurant on three different occasions over the last three years. Each time it’s not quite right and this is always about the service, they are not the best! On this occasion we emailed our intentions for our visit this May but no response. So when we arrived in st Jean de Luz we dropped in and spoke to the chef about booking a table that we wanted in the area that we wanted. Amazing! BUT NOT! We turned up at the correct time and our table was taken because there was no record of a booking, so they sat us by the door on a busy(takeaway) night! It was cold and draughty not what we wanted. We approached the waiter but he was ‘too busy’ So We just left and went around the corner to another pizza place which was really good and accommodating. It’s not difficult to cook food, it’s more difficult to run a service based business, this is where Bellini fails. There are plenty of restaurants in St Jean de Luz that have that service factor, we shall be using those...

Very bad experience. One guy that works there was not helpful with our booking that didn’t go through and very rude in saying that the restaurant is full quite sternly. Italian restaurant with no Italian speakers. One young waiter said to us in English ‘The restaurant is full”🤬 in a very rude tone of voice and elevated voice as if he was frustrated. We had a little boy who wanted his spaghetti but we ended up having to leave. That’s fine if they are full and we could go back another time with a reservation but no longer wish to go here because of this rude waiter. You need to understand people will come back if you are polite but not if you are rude and word of mouth and repeat business is very important. That won’t be happening...

Had a great experience at Bellini! We managed to secure a reservation which is a must if you want to go with the server using her translator to understand my husband trying to get a reservation for us! Had the buratta entree that was incredible! We wished we had ordered one each it was that good!! Our plats were Allé Vongole and the Regina pizza ! They were both delicious! Tiramisu and espresso for dessert! If we are ever back in St Jean de Luz we will be back! The staff were very friendly and smiled the whole time!
