I don’t usually write reviews, but in this case I feel it’s necessary to warn future customers who don’t speak French to stay away from this place. This was honestly one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. And after reading many reviews, I have realised that many others have had similar bad experiences. The way we were treated by one of the waitresses was unacceptable, rude, and downright pathetic. I have never been treated so poorly anywhere. Because we didn’t speak French, she had zero patience. And let’s be clear: despite what she might claim, her Spanish and English are both very poor. Someone like this should not be dealing with customers, as her attitude completely ruins the dining experience for anyone who isn’t French. To make matters worse, the restaurant enforces ridiculous rules: every single person at the table must order, and you are not allowed to share plates. When we tried to explain, the lady kept repeating “this is a restaurant”—as if she didn’t understand that restaurants are actually places where sharing and flexibility should be possible. She claimed to understand Spanish and English, but in reality communication was impossible. The treatment toward non–French speakers was very poor, and instead of hospitality we felt unwelcome. In short: unkind service, inflexible rules, and an overall negative experience. Definitely not...
Read moreExcellent food, kind staff. However, too busy running around constantly so didn't listen to us as customers so brought wrong cider, put far too much lemon on daughter's "crêpe" while we ask for none at all so she was upset as she didn't like her first pancake (she loved her second one), and they forgot to bring my dessert. Couldn't tell them while we ate as staff always rushing so we didn't feel we could ask, and they didn't check on us while we ate as too busy. Tables too close to each other, probably because they try to maximise. However, food served...
Read moreThe second con encountered in St Jean de Luz. Came here after a full dinner as my partner just wanted something sweet, we just wanted to order one for her, but were told that it's not possible to only order one so were forced to have two or leave. The waiter then insulted us by pointing to the cheapest item on the menu as if we could not afford something else. The caramelised apple was absolutely delicious, but the lemon and sugar was possibly the worst I've ever had, tasted like...
