Edit 4 years later: We returned to La Cabotte with much anticipation, after having recommended this place for years. This was the place my kids were raving about even though the first time they visited they were only 4 and 6. Well, how things change in 4 years! We came out pretty disappointed for many reasons. The welcome was definitely not the same. The wines by the glass were ok but short from the offerings we encountered the first time. The main courses were still delicious, beef bourguignon and fish, however we were disappointed by the escargot that both went down in quality and up in price :( To top it all the bill had plenty of errors the first time it arrived (desserts were double counted for instance) and even after they fixed it we had the bad surprise of learning that some of the things we ordered were a la carte and not part of the menus we indicated we were buying, without anyone telling us when we ordered which resulted in a couple overcharges. All in all, probably not a place we will go out of our way to visit the next time and definitely not one I will keep recommending to folks. Too bad!
Original review (5 stars): Wonderful restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing from the apéritif offerings through dessert: authentic, with great ingredients, presented in a beautiful way. The wine by the glass offered were fantastic. The settings is also great, mixing old building with new decor, very quiet and relaxing. The service was fantastic, offering great suggestions and ensuring we can enjoy the meal. We were with two small kids and they accommodated us and offered a great kids menu that had the kids try some real delicious food. We chose the restaurant based on Google's recommendations as we were just stopping in Nuits-Saint-Georges for the night and we couldn't be happier...
Read moreWe arrived promptly at 8 pm and and we’re shown to our table. Ordered water and selected a bottle of white wine from their paper-based list. After 20 minutes we reminded a member of staff that we were still waiting. Another 5 minutes passed before we were told they had sold out of our wine choice. The wine list eventually reappeared and we chose an alternative. After 2 further reminders we enjoyed our first sip of wine - 50 minutes after we first arrived! No paper-based menus, only a QR code stuck to the table, so if you’re not tech savvy, give this restaurant a miss. Out of 4/5 members of staff only one - a male - bothered to engage with customers. The others wore looks of ‘I really don’t give a damn’. All staff were young and didn’t appear to know what they were doing. Food was good, though, which stopped me awarding this place one star. If you own this restaurant, either replace the staff or take them away and train them in...
Read moreIn early April we spent 2 nights in the area, we were looking for a lunch place and had our sight set on another restaurant in town that was very highly rated, but they turned us down because we had our dogs with us. Alas we stopped into La Cabotte and had the best meal imaginable with attentive and pleasant service and a warm atmosphere. The wine choices were perfect for my wife and I while she had the trout, I enjoyed the delicious Iberian pork. We ended up staying longer (and drinking more) than we planned but it was well worth it. Welcoming, clean, cozy, excellent presentation and high quality food and drink. After spending more than 2 months in France, I can say this was one of the best meals we had, highly...
