Ben's Blues Bar — Restaurant in Blois

Cool and hip bar. Nice deco. Something was amiss about the place or the owner. Only the owner (assumed) was working there tonight. Not sure if one only orders at the bar. My spouse and I don’t speak French. We sat down at a table and eventually the bartender approached us. I was a bit surprised that he knew no English as almost all deco was American music. But no biggie. More surprisingly was when I ordered two Old Fashions. He knew nothing of it. I tried hard to make him understand and it appeared he did until he brought us two neat whiskeys. Some drinks just break language barriers and any bartender would know especially this bar. It’s an Old Fashion. Anyhow, we queried our minds for another drink after but just decided to close the check. He showed me a bottle of Monkey Shoulder ($27.00 at carrefour market) and a calculator indicating 17 euros. You be the judge if that’s a fair price or not for a single line of a pour in the glass for that whiskey. $8.50 for each. I could mention a few other petty details that’s just not worth it. Beer? Unreal vibes in this cracking little spot, Ben is the best, beers are cheap and atmosphere is top. Quel plaisir que de découvrir un tel lieu, en entrant, nous sommes sous le charme de la décoration…. Nous ne savons plus où donner de l’œil tellement il y a de choses à voir… un vrai musée qui rassemble les souvenirs du maître des lieux qui en profite pour nous présenter quelques pièces, photos, objets… et ici tout a une histoire….
