Came for lunch after a long walk and it was busy and inviting outside with great views out of the windows, depending on where you were seated inside. I liked the light wood and cosy feel inside and the foot smelt great through the door as we came inside. We were seated quickly, my son loved that his seat came with a soft blanket, the lunch menu seemed like good value when we looked at the board outside. The food was…fine… but 3/4 of our main courses were on the flavourless side. The pasta bolognese and carbonara were good sized portions but very plain and unmemorable with hard chewy pasta. We asked for Parmesan as it wasn’t offered which elevated the dishes slightly but left us pretty cold. The salmon tagliatelle was pleasantly creamy and silky with decent chunks of fish, but again had little flavour. The best main was the goats cheese hot honey pizza which saved the meal - we all loved it and it was great with the tomato, buffalo mozzarella and basil salad. We tried the crème brûlée and chocolate mousse for dessert and they were also very good. The espresso macchiato coffees were decent. Where the experience fell down was our waitress was impressively sullen. She made zero attempt to be either hospitable or charming let alone even neutrally civil which was initially kind of amusing but came to feel somewhat uncomfortable and a bit disrespectful once we’d got to the end of the meal and spent nearly €100 for quite a basic lunch. It was clearly causing her pain and distress having to serve us and explain things to us along the way as we tried our best to get by in French. A bit of a shame to be made to feel we are a tedious nuisance as customers when we are on holiday and trying to have a memorable nice treat meal out. Maybe she was having a bad day, it happens, but it did put a bit of a shadow on our time here. The mâitre d’ serving other tables was an absolute ray of sunshine on the other hand, which did offset some of the eye rolls, sighs and general disdain from our waitress. On balance I think if you get lucky and order the right things from the menu, and get someone waiting your table who doesn’t hate the sight of you, then this is a great little...

Bref 15 euros perdus
