Ah, Bordeaux—a city full of culinary treasures, where every corner seems to hide a new delight waiting to be discovered. But here’s the kicker: sometimes the best spot is hiding in plain sight, right next to your hotel, and you don’t find it until your last day. That’s exactly what happened to us with this brunch place, the one we’d been walking past every day without a second glance. It was an unfortunate stroke of luck that we only stumbled upon it just as we were about to leave.
From the moment we stepped inside, we knew we’d made a grave mistake—not finding this place sooner. The air was thick with the scent of freshly brewed coffee, eggs sizzling in butter, and sweet pastries baking in the oven. This wasn’t just any brunch spot. No, this was the kind of place that people make reservations for weeks in advance, where every plate coming out of the kitchen looked like it was vying for a spot in a food magazine spread.
We each ordered just one plate—because, well, that’s what you do, right? But as soon as the food arrived, it was clear that one plate wasn’t going to be enough. Perfectly prepared platitudes for the palette. Every plate that passed by, on its way to some lucky brunch enthusiast, made us envious. Each dish looked better than the last, like top contenders in a competition where there were no losers.
The only problem with this place? You can only eat so much in one sitting, and we were leaving Bordeaux that day. No time to come back, no room to order more. Just the bitter realization that we’d have to wait an entire year—an eternity—before tasting this delicious food again.
So here’s my advice: add this place to your list. Don’t be like us, finding it too late to fully indulge. Plan ahead, because trust me, one visit will never be enough. If only we’d known earlier, we would have eaten here every single morning. As it stands, we’ll be counting the days until we can return—and next time, we won’t make the mistake of leaving anything on the...
Read moreIt is 4 stars for us. We booked a brunch, and got delayed on the way, so we warned them of our delay and they were kind enough to keep the table for us for 50mins (was not able to book online after 11:00 am on the day, so took the 1rst available slot online). I would say, maybe it would be easier if customers could leave a comment on the system regarding a particular booking (in case we cannot reach them by phone). It was not extremely busy, so we got lucky! The brunch options consist of combinations of items from the menu. The menu is well-thought, different textures and flavours, we would appreciate slightly bigger portions (it is a brunch after all!!!) as brunch portions are usually larger and same comments on the beverages. I recommend the Kigali tea. A lovely brunch place overall and a more welcoming attitude would go...
Read moreWe had an appalling experience here this morning. I found this place online and had been excited for brunch on holiday! After being seated, we were told there might be a short wait for food because of a large group, which is fine. What isn't fine is what happened. After placing our order, and waiting, The large party behind us kept growing (our coffees hadn't arrived yet) Then, unbelievably, a guest from that party told us we had to move. The waitress confirmed this and suggested we sit outside where it was due to rain — and next to smokers (which is why we'd chosen and been given the seating inside). At that point it was obvious the restaurant had decided our custom didn’t matter and that the large group was the only priority. So we had to leave!
How insulting and a complete waste of our time. We went to Homie and had a...
