Gitanjali Héritage — Restaurant in Boulogne-Billancourt

Went to this restaurant today for lunch. Starters: We had chicken 56, One Leg Piece of Tandoori Chicken and Gitanjali special for starters. Honestly, Chicken 65 was below average, Tandoori was good and so was Gitanjali Special.

Drinks: Kasha tasted like a normal black tea and nothing close to real kashmiri kahwa. Mango Lassi was very good.

Main Course: We took Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala and Paneer Butter Masala. Butter chicken was pathetic and was very bland. Chicken in Chicken Tikka Masala was half cooked and taste was average. Paneer Butter Masala was below average with almost no salt. Indian breads were very good.

Desserts: we took Mango Kulfi which was again below average.

Restaurant staff was welcoming and service was simply great. Food was not at all Indian. I mean it was very bland with no taste.

Bill for all the above items was 107€ which as per me was outrageous as the food wasn’t value for money.

Also, I believe that the food consisted of baking soda as I had a bloating feeling after having food. I would let strongly recommend this restaurant. Rest...

Very poor experience at this restaurant (due to the service). My family and I went here for a late dinner and only wanted smaller portions. As such, we ordered the gobi 65, chicken 65, one paneer curry, and a few naans. The waiter insisted that the food would be insufficient for us and tried to get us to order more dishes (even though we were unwilling to do so). We then asked for an extra plate (since we only received one plate for three people) and were told by the waiter that we would not receive any more; he told us to use the plate on which the chicken was served and rudely brought an additional smaller plate after we requested a plate multiple times. We also only received half a paapad (complimentary) for three people, which would have been sufficient had it been one whole paapad. I don’t care how good the food is anymore — I’m never coming back.

I’ve given this place so many chances because the taste really is excellent. But there’s one waiter (always in the evenings) who manages to destroy the entire experience every single time. Rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. It honestly feels like he hates being there — and takes it out on the customers. No greeting, no basic manners, just pure hostility.

It’s exhausting. Sitting down to eat shouldn’t feel like walking into a confrontation. This isn’t a one-time issue — it’s every visit, and nothing ever changes.

The fact that management allows this to continue tells me everything I need to know. They clearly don’t care about the customer experience at all.

I’m done wasting my time and energy here. One toxic staff member is all it takes to ruin a place, and unfortunately, that’s exactly what’s happened....
