Wonderful neighborhood restaurant worth the trip from central Paris. This is a local bistro serving well made food and good wine at a very reasonable price price.
We tried 3 different starters. Cod fritters with a sweet and sour sauce was light years ahead of the stodgy fritters you find a many restaurants. You could see the cubes of fish when you bit into them. The country paté was classic French with deep flavor. Beautiful with the bread that was brought to the table. And the winner, a plate of sauteed mushrooms, with a perfect, bacon and hazelnuts. The yolk ran out and thicked and chicken jus on the plate. The hazelnuts added texture and an extra depth of flavor. A true delight. A glass of Roully from the Loire was suggested and matched perfected (the owner used to work at Lucas Carton, the original home of matching wines by the glass in Paris).
For the main we has the daily special of sea bass on top of a "pesto", a sauté of peppers, onions and squash. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked with a wonderful crisp skin. This very light dish was perfect on warm Friday afternoon. Here we were offered both white, from Southern France, and a very elegant and light red St Joseph from Ogier. Of course they both complemented the fish extremely well.
Dessert was nice chocolate mousse and an amazing rice pudding with salted caramel sauce and hazelnuts. The rice pudding is apparently the biggest seller for the restaurant and for good reasons. hands down the best Riz au Lait in my life.
Service is friendly, knowledgable and laid back. You feel instantly at home in the well decorated and comfortable environment.
Everything was very reasonably priced. I will head back again next time I'm in Paris without hesitation. Highest...
Read moreVibrant atmosphere- warm, welcoming and informal. All the staff were friendly, from greeting us at the door to saying a “come again” goodbye. It was a Saturday and the place was full. I loved the decor, including the charming green tiled bathroom! My husband is vegetarian and he was well provided for: he loved the aubergine starter and unusual rice desert. I chose- and adored- the pate de fois gras as a starter, then the very tasty and tender shoulder of...
Read moreWe had an excellent meal in Tambouille. The owners and staff are super-friendly and really made us feel welcome in the restaurant. The menu is interesting, with a great wine list. We had the côte de boeuf, which was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. There is a nice atmosphere in the restaurant, with clearly some regular customers and Boulogne locals. In short, highly recommended and we will...
