Museum of the Thirties — Attraction in Boulogne-Billancourt

One of my favorite museums here in Paris. It's a bit off the beaten path, and it can take a while to get there, but it's worth it, especially if you have an interest in this era.

They really have a very nice collection. The furniture and decor is mostly a miss, but the paintings and sculptures are excellent.

Very interesting special exhibits, too.

The place was almost empty when I went (free first Sunday of the month), so I had plenty of room to admire the art.

If you are intrerested in Art Deco, this museum is a little jem. It helps a lot if you understand a little French. Until 10 February 2020 you can see the exhibition about the ocean liner Isle de France. It has some info in English. You can also see furniture, paintings and sculptures from the era between the world wars. There is also a large section devoted to the Paris school art movement. This is a lovely museum that has great vibes, not so many famous artworks and artists however. The Landowski part is interesting, I had no idea he designed Rio’s Christ redemptor. There was a fascinating part with pictures from the exposition internationale des arts decoratifs of 1925.
