À l'ombre du figuier — Restaurant in Brive-la-Gaillarde

This is a nice family restaurant located in the heart of Collonge. Both the exterior and the interior are lovely, but that's where the amazing part of my experience stops.

The service deserves loads of improvements, starting with the waiters better coordinating with each other on the dishes ordered and to be served, along with the cutlery to be given. Despite the limited number of tables, the food preparation is still relatively slow on average.

In our case, for four people, to cook a handful of foie gras ravioli in some onion soup, some vegetables, and reheat four layers of pastry to intersect a ready salmon mousse, it took more than 30 minutes.

Also, the sole bottle of wine we were interested in having in full was out of stock, just available at a glass (which is, of course, the most expensive option). If the owner knew about it at the time the winner was given, this could have been anticipated.

Additionally, the portions are small compared to the requested price.

In the end, the experience was passable but not...

If you are visiting Collonges-la-Rouge and want something less heavy than typical Corrèzian or Périgordian faire, this is àn option. A beautiful location. Tranquil on the outdoor patio, kind and attentive service. Good basic drink refreshments plus à couple of us ordered Paninis that were pricey but not for this location and the others ordered onion soup with fois gras raviolis. À fuir, dommage. Recommandé nous réservons par téléphone ( confirmé par SMS avec accusé de réception du propriétaire) et à notre arrivée pas de réservation. Ça commence mal. Nous sommes finalement parqué dans un salon au 1er étage où nous sommes installés à la va vite. Le service commence bien mais surprise quand le plat principal de mon fils est servi en même temps que nos entrées... Quand nos plats arrivent il nous regarde manger... 65 mn après avoir avalé notre dernier morceaux du plat on se demande si on ne nous a pas oublié... Bingo effectivement personne ne se rappelle que nous sommes là ! Les desserts arrivent après 70 minutes d'attente. Lorsque j'ose faire part de notre mécontentement le propriétaire devient immédiatement agressif verbalement. C'est bien dommage. La serveuse avait tenté de s'excuser par un geste commercial.
