L’Antidote — Restaurant in Caen

We were looking for a spot to have one more drink before calling it a night. We thought this place looked pretty neat and decided to stop in. We tried to learn a little bit of French before making our trip, unfortunately not enough to speak the language fluently. The female bartender started speaking to us in French and I asked her (in French) if she spoke English. I didn’t get much of a response from her, we felt like she was being rude. After some broken communication we got our drinks and sat down next to the bar, only to hear (from the little we could make out) her laugh and criticize us to another person next to us. We paid our bill and went down to Vous etes isi and got much better...

Nous avons dû partir à la mi temps du match de demi-finale…

Nous avons reçu un accueil chaleureux de la responsable. Nous souhaitions commander, après une première commande de cocktail, une grande planche et une seconde tournée de soft.

À ce moment, le barman nous a fait savoir son mécontentement sur le fait que 40 personnes attendaient dehors pour boire et que nous ne commandions pas assez d’alcool et que cette soirée à cause de nous n’était pas rentable…

Nous avons donc quitté l’établissement sans manger, sans deuxième tournée et sans deuxième mi-temps !

Dommage de finir cette soirée comme cela, les planches...

Waiter much more friendly than at Le Cristal. This one forgot to put a smile and be gentle. Did not drive 500km to be welcome...
