That was a hard one... If I look at the food side of the review, it was gorgeous, tasty, nice portions, reasonably priced. However the service side ruined it. Barely finished my starter and the main course arrived. Which would not even be that much of an issue however the waiter cleared off my cutlery with my starter and did not replace them, tried to make myself see to the original waiter who took my order 2 times, nothing (being 185cm tall 95kg, not easily missed). So I had to get up from the furthest table walk ti the main door, ask for cutlery and walk back with a fork and knife in my hand... Sorry but that is not acceptable!!! Then never been asked how my food was, after I paid i still had half a beer but the waiter was constantly checking if he can clear the table if not (by that time there were at least 3 tables free around me so did not need mine) Overall, food is 5*, service barely 2... Felt like been rushed out.
Edit: I gave Mamma Mia a second chance a year later. The food is still excellent! The service is better. I think it may be up to how busy they are.... The whole town was quieter than the previous year. However, that should not matter. (Speaking from experience working in hospitality for 12yrs+) Anyways, the Italian menu is really nice, the portions are on the large size...
Read moreFive visits in the last four or five years to this popular restaurant that's situated right on the main street in Ouistreham, in the town centre. I first ate here twenty plus years ago, the first time I ever ate moules, and I've not looked back since. The restaurant has changed a lot in the intervening years, having been transformed from a packed smokey cafe, it is now a comfortable Italian restaurant that offers pizzas, moules, steaks and chicken.
I had the set meal, two courses accompanied by a glass of the house red; a calzone pizza which I chose to have with potato, not something I've tried before but which I thoroughly enjoyed.
There were six of us, we had a nice round table tucked away in a corner. Nice and private. The service was good, the staff were very friendly. They appreciated the broken French, very broken, but appreciated it never the less. It was a Wednesday evening so it wasn't overly busy.
Lots of people collecting their pizzas, so they're very popular locally. Very convenient and not expensive. 🍕
Returned tonight, September 2022. A really nice evening tonight; good service, good food & good atmosphere. So very happy to increase my review rating from 3 stars to 4 stars. Will definitely visit again, the pizzas were really nice, crisp...
Bref, ça me m'a pas transcendée...
