Le Marinella — Restaurant in Calvi

Worst experience in 2 weeks holiday. Not only is the food pretty much generic - means it feels not like freshly cooked but just warmed up pre fabricated stuff - but service was Superbad. We were among the first guests, and up to ordering first round of drinks and one of the tapas platters as starter things derailed. That platter came within five minutes (!) after ordering. Very nice. A few minutes later we ordered main courses and simultaneously ordered another of that platter because everyone favored another one. That second platter took 15 minutes (!!) to get to us. So far, still good. But after an hour (!!! - multiple tables around us whose guests arrived after us were already served deserts!!! ) we kindly asked when we would get our main courses and the waitress barked at us that it was OUR OWN FAULT because we ordered another starter (!!!!). Meanwhile the part of the family with the small infants had to leave because they needed to be laid to rest so we on top was forced to ask for the two adult dishes to be brought as take away. Heavenly location, fantastic staff and service but totally overpriced and very very average food. Very disappointing and bland. Don’t be fooled by the charm and theatrics of the staff - they are great and do their best. But the kitchen really needs to lift. We paid 66 euros for a 700g locally caught sea bass - that was overcooked and dry, honestly for this price it needs to be special … it was certainly fresh. But dry and overcooked fresh fish is - just dry fish at the end of the day. Even the 35 Euro prawn pasta lacked flavour … 150 Euros later for 2 bland pastas and an overcooked dry fish leaves you feeling disappointed. Five stars for the location and...
