Café de la Place — Restaurant in Carcassonne

What a find, we arrived in Bram on a Wednesday around 1.15pm to find the markets packing up and almost nothing open. In we went not expecting much. We were offered the plate dejoir, which was salad, steak and fries. As we were hungry we ordered and happy we did. Nothing too fancy as restaurants go but the meal was excellent, tasty steak cooked to perfection, with a very nice fresh salad and fries. 4 meals, 2 wines a beer and a coke for the driver plus 3 Cafe. €70. My experience at this establishment was extremely disappointing. The staff were not only unfriendly but also downright rude, showing no effort to assist or welcome tourists. The coffee was awful—my so-called ‘cappuccino’ was made from a bag and tasted terrible. The space itself was dirty and uninviting, adding to the discomfort. Lunches here are great! Typical little french cafe, the all inclusive lunch for 12 Euro including wine is brilliant. Always simple nicely cooked food. Wednesdays is Steak and French Fries day.
