I stumbled upon this place by chance, drawn in by its daily set menu. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of this beautiful city, it offers a serene and welcoming atmosphere that I truly appreciated.
I was greeted with an unexpected courgette soup. The salmon tartare stood out for its generously sized cuts—larger than what one typically expects in a tartare. It was topped with crumbs that added a pleasantly distinctive crunch, creating a textural balance between the tenderness of the salmon and the crispness of the topping. Though I’m generally not a fan of smoked flavors, but the subtle smokiness flavour I’ve perceived in this dish was surprisingly well-executed and complemented the fish beautifully without overwhelming the palate.
The Breton-style fish casserole was an unexpected and delightful addition to a set menu. While the fish wasn’t fresh-caught to my taste, it retained an excellent quality and delicate flavor. A particularly pleasant surprise was the choice of accompaniments—solely vegetables, with no potatoes or rice, which kept the dish light and allowed the fish to remain the focus. I also appreciated the clever presentation: the sauce was served at the bottom of the deep plate, allowing each bite to carry just the right amount of sauce, with the option to adjust to taste.
Both dishes were slightly saltier than I personally prefer, but not enough to detract from the overall experience. I would certainly return, as the originality of the menu and the quality of the flavors make this place well...
