A serial disappointment.
I would have rated this as a 3/5, but my dining partner has advocated for clemency bc they had a good experience. Their experience was a 4/5, mine was a raw 3/5.
I made a mistake in the beginning, and honestly this one is my fault, but there is a dish on their menu that prominently mentions asparagus and honestly I got a plate full of trout lol, but this is seriously my fault because I didn’t understand what gravlax was, if you are reading this expect a plate of cold fish over a cold white panna cotta. So this one’s on me but I expected asparagus, and I didn’t taste any.
NOW, onto the actual review.
I got the beef dish for my main, asked for medium rare. I would say my beef was well done. This plate should never have left the kitchen. It was pre cut, so they knew what doneness was going to the table. I’m pretty strict on beef dishes, especially ones where you can see if something is overcooked in the kitchen before it goes to the customer. This dish has potential, but the beef was under seasoned. I chose to eat the overcooked beef cause I felt bad, but I let them know it was overcooked. The server or the chef should have caught this.
The last dish I got almost looked like a jellyfish (check the attached image). It was just honestly just … strange. It was strawberry and rhubarb, under a gelatinous layer, and light cream on top. It was honestly.. watery and difficult to eat because it was just sliding around the plate. Idk if the chef actually tries to eat what they create, cause if so i would think this particular dish needs to be adjusted. Flavor was fine, but it was just kinda … gross. Wet, watery, cold, and difficult to eat.
At the very end I ordered a cappuccino, and man this was the cherry on the top of my evening. Pretty sure they poured drip coffee into a cup and added milk.
Overall, a disappointing evening with frankly avoidable issues that kinda spoiled it. The folks there were friendly enough, our server...
Read moreSuper delicious!! I went there last week and the menu they offered were very innovative ❤️. From the amuse bouche of beetroot mousse and pistachio, to the entree until desserts, were perfect!
I had the tartare, shared the steak and fish of the day and citron cake and all were perfect. All the elements work well with each other.
One thing to note is that the steak was not well trimmed, so there were a lot of fat which disturb the eating experience, the disco music also did not really match with how elegant the food presentation is in this place.
Aside from that, they have the best customer service i've experienced in France. ❤️❤️
For a consideration, the waitress could have served more wine as she poured less than the normal serving 😐.
Overall, i would come back for the food!! BEST!! Very happy to find a restaurant that dare to step out of the...
Read moreWe were in Dinan in early September and had dinner at the very charming La Fleur de Sel one night. This unassuming little place was recommended by a local, who said it wasn't "fancy" but was excellent. The interior is simple and understated but the food was exceptional. Our party of four ended up ordering the same menu from the short list of options (I'm always happy with less options!!) and everyone was happy. The service was excellent, even though we speak very little French and our waiter spoke no English—all was fine. Our fish was lovely and rested under a delicious sauce, the starter of soup was extremely flavorful, cheese plate delightful. We ended with a round of Calvados and was treated to another on the house....
