SO’FiSH — Restaurant in District of Dax

I was looking so forward to this restaurant. Sadly it seems they are having a difficult time running the kitchen. 4 days ago we went to dinner, arrived around 7:45 pm and stood in a very long line. The friendly girl appeared to be alone and single handedly managing the bar, making coffee, drinks, taking orders, delivering food, cleaning tables and answering the phone! It was so sad. After waiting for nearly 25 minutes in line before even sitting down at a table she comes and tells the 10 people in line that the kitchen might not have enough fish…. And that we will know if they can fix us dinner in about 45 minutes! Assuming we could order something else, we went ahead and got drinks and a bottle of wine and settled down for the long wait. 15 minutes later we find out chicken or salads are off the list too ( plan B no longer an option) because they decided to shut down the kitchen! We found ourselves walking the streets at 9:15 pm with an open bottle of wine looking for another restaurant!!...

The portions are large, very nicely presented. The fish is fresh caught in the morning and bought just 300m up the road from the fishing boats themselves, and you can tell. The chips are very nice and portion is perfect. I would recommend the fish and chips and they even have malt vinegar :) The onion rings are brilliant if your 2 you only need 1 portion as they are also a good amount. Others had salad, that looked amazing, and the burgers looked huge too. The price is fine ( average 22€ a head, with starter and drinks ) as the food is very nice, the portions are more than adequate its all local produce, fresh and a lovely view of the fishing port to go with it. Service is very good, polite and happy to help in any way. All in all,I would definitely make it a once a month...

Everyone was lovely there! Its a warm and cozy place where you can have delicious fish dishes, the love put in the place is noticeable and thats what we care more about when we look for a place to share a meal. The waiter was very helpful and he suggested one of the best desserts we had in our stay in France. Higly recommended,...
