I would love to write a review about how good the food was at this restaurant, but we didn't come to eat; instead, we had a very strange experience.
We stood at the entrance, at the reception desk, and waited for someone to greet us and assign us a table. At first, we were ignored for a while, even though the waitress standing just three meters away from us had seen us. That seemed strange. Eventually, the same waitress asked us very reservedly what we would like. We asked if we could have a table for two, to which she asked if we had a reservation and made it clear that we would not get a table without one.
It should be noted that it was 8:10 p.m. and the restaurant closes at 10 p.m. While two neighboring restaurants, “La Grimaudoise” and “La Caravelle,” were packed except for a few tables, at “L'Equille,” just 3 of the 15 tables at the front were occupied, and 4 of the 8 tables at the back by the water were still free. The website also does not mention that reservations are required. We assumed that we were denied the opportunity to dine at this restaurant for other reasons, as was also suggested in another review here.
However, we didn't let this spoil our mood on the last day before our departure, as there are many other nice restaurants in Port Grimaud.
Addition based on the response: Thank you for your response, but if you want the guest to come back next time, you don't leave them standing there and ignore them until they try to get the service's attention themselves. In a restaurant of this price range, you can expect basic service. If the waitress is standing nearby and staring at the new arrived guests (it wasn't a quick glance, but a scrutinizing look), she could at least say hello or let the waiting guest know that she has noticed them and will be with them shortly, or at least make a minimal friendly impression. Sorry, but that's not what customer...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious!! I was a little bit unsure about not being able to see the menu prior to coming as this is normally how I choose a restaurant, however it’s so worth it!
We had two different entrees and mains, then a desert to finish, everything including the Hors d'oeuvre was extremely flavourful and perfectly cooked! The bread served with the food is perfectly crisp on the outside and soft centre, they also had a selection of delicious olive oil (upon request).
The beautiful view of the water, great wine and fantastic food makes it definitely...
Read moreWhat a great resturant nestled in the quieter part of Grimaud, a real gem bursting with flavours in every dish with an array of wine to suit every pallet. The service was spot on, from booking to the final meal nothing is any trouble. The kick back and relax atmosphere here is welcomed compared to many places that usher you out when possible between it's 2 sittings..but not here. Thanks for a very enjoyable evening we'll definitely be back to sample some more of the fine dishes. Gareth...
