We were super excited to visit - amazing spot, perfect setting. We live locally and desperately wanted to love it. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t great. We had a nice sounding poached egg with truffles and Parmesan cream starter which was very under cooked (liquid), and a prawn ceviche which was under seasoned and not acidic enough by some margin. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to spoil the vibe and hoped the mains would pull things back. For mains, one of us had a lobster pasta with a seafood sauce which should be a knockout dish. The sauce was either an extremely fine reproduction of a classic soupe de poissons (which is available in jars from supermarkets up and down the country for 5€) or it WAS simply a jarred soupe de poissons poured on some pasta with half a lobster balanced on top. It would be good to know from the chef which it is. Either way, that’s how it tasted. I had a filet of beef with truffles and what seemed like a sauce perigaux which also should be dynamite but was under seasoned, and with no depth of flavour. It was served with mashed potatoes which were poorly made, and should be unctuous and buttery. Service was fine, but we were too embarrassed to say anything so we didn’t have desert or coffee and went and had an ice cream in the square. I’m not one for moaning publicly but at the same time, these are classic dishes that require certain things to be right. For example, a lobster pasta sauce should be cooked with the shells from the lobster. If I’ve got that wrong and this was a freshly made sauce, please accept my apologies and I’ll take this review down. Sorry for the...
Read moreA true culinary experience! The Table du Mareyeur is not just a restaurant - it is a stage for the freshest fish and seafood imaginable. As soon as you enter, it's clear that quality takes centre stage here. The presentation of the day's selection directly at the table is a real highlight. The seafood is presented on a wooden platter like little works of art. You can immediately see how fresh everything is - as if it came straight from the harbour to your plate.
The variety of flavours is impressive: finely balanced marinades, delicate textures, perfectly cooked fish fillets and delicacies served raw that melt in the mouth. Each course is a small voyage of discovery through the sea.
The service is attentive and knows all about the origin, fishing methods and preparation - as a guest, you feel that you are in good hands. The wine pairing also harmoniously matches the flavours of the sea.
It was an all-round perfect evening for us. If you love seafood, you can't go past the Table du Mareyeur - authentic, fresh, full of flavour. A place that you not only taste, but experience.
Thank you Caroline and Eliot and the rest of the Team for such a great experience!!
See you...
Read moreVery poor experience. We ordered 4 different appetizers and 3 entrees. Only one appetizer (mussels) was tasty, the rest was grossly oversaulted and poorly prepared. The catch of the day was overcooked and it took us almost an hour (after we finished appetizers) before it arrived. They were barely warm (looks like they just forgot about us) and tasted blant. The service was unfriendly and indifferent, which is surprising for the restaurant in this price range. We ended up paying 250 euros for the dinner we didn't...
