Restaurant Le Bretagne — Restaurant in Fougères-Vitré

This is a traditional Breton restaurant and we had a lovely 3 course meal here, which was very reasonably priced. The service was very attentive, the decor is also very traditional. I would like to have given 4.5 out of 5 for the service, but its not an option. I had the red mullet on a bed of mashed potato in a very good sauce, and the dessert was a lovely creme brulee. My husband had the steak tartare which was a very generous portion and he enjoyed very much. The only thing was it was a big place largely empty which detracted from the atmosphere and character. Very good place that I can wholeheartedly recommend. Great value as you can get a three course meal for 19 something euros. Accueil plus que frais…La serveuse n’est pas très aimable et n’a pas le temps pour les clients… Un plat à été présenté dans une assiette ébréchée et la serveuse ne s’est pas excusée…bien au contraire a tenu tête en disant qu’elle l’avait bien vu mais que ça peut arriver….c’est normal d’avoir de la vaisselle abîmée de temps en temps…. Pour l’assiette de chèvre chaud…… 4 rondelles de chèvre sur une tranche de pain de mie grillé… Pour la commande de steaks tartare…. Pas mieux……Pas de sauce tartare, pas de mayonnaise…un simple set donné sur la table avec des contenants en plastique (moutarde et sauce ketchup non rafraîchis…chauds) qui étaient vides et qu’il a fallu secouer pour avoir une goutte… Et au service la formule « maintenant je vous laisse travailler »…. La palme revient au service du pain…..4 petites tranches de ficelle dans un sac en papier froissé qui a plus que vécu (genre sac pour croissants)….il a fallu demander 3 fois du pain …..qui était visiblement frappé de restrictions…. Déco très vieillotte…. Et manque d’une poubelle à hauteur du lavabo des toilettes…. Conclusion….payer...
