La dolce vita — Restaurant in Gex

I don’t understand how this establishment functions. Tonight is the second time I have visited here (previously visited in April this year).

In April, my husband and I went for dinner on a Sunday evening, and we were told it was pizza only that was available. Didn’t think anything off it except it must have been because Sundays were quieter.

Our second visit, this time in July and summer season, we went for a family dinner on a Saturday night. Again, told that it was pizza only. Starting to get confused as to when they actually offer the full menu option??? We just accepted this as we all were happy with pizza anyway.

Arrived at 6:45pm, opening time being 6:30pm. Told that the kitchen didn’t open until 7pm. Why not just open your restaurant at 7pm then?

Didn’t have too much of a wait as we were one of the first tables there. Disappointed that we were a party of 5 adults and 1 child and they wouldn’t put tables together for us. So we were squashed around a table of 4.

Can’t complain about the pizzas, they were lovely.

Where the real complaint comes in is when we see other parties arriving at the restaurant and being served pasta,l and various other dishes. What happened to the ‘pizza only tonight’ rule? Can only assume it’s one rule for tourists and a different set of rules for locals and family/friends.

My family and I were planning to have dinner and arrived at 6:40, the opening time on Google was 6:30. We were the first people there. Then we had to wait an additional 20 minutes for the kitchen as it was only available from 7:00. We are a big group of people (7 adults, 5 children, and 1 baby). The service was off, we had to get the menus ourselves and couldn’t join the tables. We placed our order and then waited. At first everything was fine. We waited over 1 and a half hours for the salads and other starters to arrive. This is not the regular waiting time. Additionally, the food was promised to be well under 20 minutes per dish however we had to wait 2 hours. Then only half of our order arrived. We ordered multiple of the same dish and yet only of portion of each pasta arrived. The 5 children did not end up receiving their food and were left hungry after being there for over 2 hours. The two year old and the 7 year old had to watch their food being given to other tables. At the food was subpar at best. Very under seasoned. When asked for the bill, we were billed for everything we ordered despite most of it not arriving, so we had to negotiate that for a moment. Overall, I would not recommend for large groups...

Arrived for lunch; 2 adults, 2 young children, sitting outside in the sun in the half full/half empty restaurant. Service was non-existant; we waited for menus, we waited for water and bread, we received 3 glasses and 3 sets of cutlery for a party of 4. We ordered. People seated shortly after us ( 3 adults) had finished eating before our order arrived. We simply left, as we were hungry and really wanted our lunch. (Found a lovely café on the other side of the border where Swiss people are polite and welcoming). IF it was possible to give minus stars I...
