Le LAVOIR — Restaurant in Grasse

We were looking for a nice place to dine during our stay in town. The beachfront looked very nice. But prices are high and the menus all the same. The we found this place with a smaller, but way more interesting menu. The owner was a very friendly guy, recommended us some of their house specials. One of them were the "moules" (mussels). So we ordered a bowl of these and also steak tartare with fries. But for a starter some Foie Gras (mi-cuit). All items were fantastic. The mussels were the best we've had these 5 weeks in France. Tartare was great as well, with a heavier and different sauce as usual, but very very tasty. Fries were crispy and hot.

Also the mi-cuit Foie Gras was a nicely prepared dish. Tender, full of flavours, nice salt on top. Loved it.

The other night we had the stuffed squid (with meat, herbs and veggies) and a Corsican plate with cheese and meats from Corsica. Creme Brulée for dessert.

Stuffed Squid was great, fresh seafood with a homemade - heavy - stuffing. The meat and cheese from Corsica were a nice experience. Not all to my taste, but very special in taste and flavour. All quite strong and intense compared to other meat and cheese from France. Great to try.

Fair prices, nice port location, friendly owner, dog-friendly. What's not to like? A...

Just coming here to say that all of the 1 star reviews are absolutely right! If you want to experience the world-renowned "rude French" attitude then come to this place! We walked out after the bald guy with rude behavior came to take orders. Despite many reviews already pointing out his rudeness, his responses show that he doesn't care. This place doesn't deserve anyone's time and money. Go to the neighboring restaurants for better service. Bro, even McDonald's give better service than this joke of a place lol.

Aller quelque part ailleurs ! The audacity of the waiter to throw the order-taking notepad on our table to write our own order since he was not patient enough to wait for small children in demand to make a choice. When we tried to order earlier he left and I thought it was my imagination until the madman threw the pad on our table so we got up and left. I would have had very wise words for him but small children were present. You better go to Leo lia or Palm Cafe which are adjacent for a much better...
