Hotel Residence Syracuse — Hotel in Grasse

We booked through RCI and there was some problem with booking, as the establishment did not receive it. Luckily, I contacted them before arrival and it was sorted out. We had a 1-bedroom unit with separate lounge on the second floor. It had a large balcony with partial sea view. Residence is only across the street from the beach. There is underground garage for residents and lift goes from it directly to desired floor. The unit is self-catering and fairly well equipped for it. I wouldn't mind if there was an oven and dishwasher, but even as it was, it was OK. It is really specious for holiday rental and well fitted. I did not rate it 5 for the following reasons: Though unit was generally clean, there were some problems with hygiene. It looked like the floor area under the bed in the bedroom was never cleaned, so much dust and cobwebs. Same applies to dishes in the kitchen. I had to wash them all before using them. Sleeping sofa in the lounge was in terrible condition. It was at the odd angle to the floor, so it looked more like a skiing slope than a sofa. I firmly believe that blankets should not be used in hospitality industry at all. I am never comfortable about their cleanliness. Balcony furniture was a bit tatty and needed some maintenance. We were on the top floor and balcony was very much exposed to the sun and other weather elements, so some shading or different kind of weather protection was necessary, but not provided, so we could use it only late in the afternoon. Not all the apartment in the building are managed by the Best Western, so I am not certain what is the deal with common ares, but there were some major pipe leakages in the garage and it was very unpleasant. Far all the above reasons, maybe I should have rated this property lower then 4, but we had such a lovely holiday and it was partially due to the location and quality of accommodation, so I decided to be generous...

This apartment was a breath of fresh air... literally! Walked in to icy cold air conditioning which was very welcome given it was 30 degrees outside! The apartment (39) was at the front of the building and had a fabulous terrace which spanned the bedroom and living area. The view was great too! Decor was minimalist, giving it a spacious and bright feel, everywhere was clean and smelt amazing. The only reason I gave this 4 and not 5 stars is because I felt like it would have been useful for it to have a few amenities, such as a tea towel for drying pots, washing up liquid, cloths and tea and coffee. Appreciate it’s an apartment so you take your own things but if you are only staying a couple of nights it’s not worth buying. We had a studio room. It was two adults and our son. They added a roll away cot and we still were comfortable. |It had a nice balcony and a great blind to keep the room cool. We did not have a sea view. |The beach is a very short walk, just across the street. There is a great grocery store nearby, lots of restaurants too. Right by the grocery store is a small laundromat which was handy. |Unfortunately they do not provide any beach chairs, towels or umbrellas. Things you cannot really pack when coming from overseas. It would be great if they had some of these items to borrow. |The receptionists were all excellent. They were forgiving of our limited Spanish and spoke English well. They had lots of local knowledge and provided some excellent recommendations on things to see and how...
