The Mercure Villeneuve-Loubet is truly a hidden gem as far as Mercure Hotels go, particularly thanks to its unbeatable beachfront location. The Privilege beachfront rooms are a dream, straight out of a magazine—cozy, modern, and impeccably clean (again, for Mercure Standards). The highlight has to be the sliding door that opens up directly to the beach, a perfect way to start or end your day (though the fence separating the property from the beach could use some work, which is the only downside to an otherwise perfect setup). The rooftop restaurant offers a spectacular setting with breathtaking views. It’s easy to get lost in a glass of wine while soaking in the scenery. The food is good, although a bit on the pricier side, but the quality and ambiance more than make up for it. Service was a standout, with both the front office and F&B teams meeting expectations. A special shout-out to the maitre d’ (whose name I unfortunately forgot) for making my dining experience extra special. The breakfast offering was a bit lackluster compared to the rest of the experience, and incredibly pricey, but overall, the hotel more than delivers in terms of location, service, and atmosphere. I was fortunate to secure a fairly decent rate during my stay, but I imagine prices may skyrocket in the summer months. At that point, I’m not sure the value for money would hold up as strongly, especially considering this is a Mercure property and not a higher-end brand in the Accor portfolio. Still, for the price I paid, it was definitely worth it, and I’d recommend it as a base for exploring the French Riviera, provided you can snag a good deal. If you’re planning a getaway on the French Riviera, this is a place you should definitely consider. It’s an exceptional spot to relax, recharge, and enjoy the stunning surroundings.

This is a 3 star hotel, not a 4 star hotel. Pros: - Located near the beach - the sunrise is Ah-Mah-Zing - Rooms were clean - Friendly staff - Not too expensive, but what you pay is what you get. - Supermarket at walking distance - Close enough to the airport that an uber ride is only 16 euros. - At least 2 members of staff with a good understanding of the English language - please treasure these girls as they were amazing during our stay. - Room has a roller which blinds perfectly. I love my room dark. Cons: - A Lot of Black Mold on the shower window. The shower itself was clean, but looked recently cleared of the mold. - Heavy Black Mold on the roof of the breakfast area. Neither the shower window nor the breakfast area were taken care of after the report. - The nearby beach is mostly stones, no sand. - In-hotel restaurant is very expensive and has a fairly limited menu. - In-hotel restaurant chef does not know how to make French fries. Very sad about this,. such a simple dish. - Breakfast buffet was very limited in choices. We've been to various 3 star hotels that had a much bigger range in choice. - Location is kind of in the middle of anything useful,. too far to walk anywhere good, but if you decide to go to nice, cannes, monaco or anywhere else, at least you're at a 20 minute train ride away. - Staff has very limited if any skill in English. But that seems to be fairly common in France. - Room balcony door does not fully close. Mosquito bites were suffered. - Hotel has no shuttle service, but the Uber is only 16€, and the bus only 1.50€

I looked at many hotels in the area before I chose this one. I was skeptical after reading the reviews and looking at the pictures. I thought perhaps the pictures were all staged and the hotel was showing only what they wanted you to see. Even on the ride from the airport to the hotel, I was thinking, what if this is really a dump, a "no tell motel". As we entered the neighborhood, my skeptism grew even more. It's not a "resort" setting. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a nice, neat little building tucked away in the marina. The lobby is simple but nicely appointed. The staff were very welcoming and professional. The hotel is composed of two or three small buildings. I asked for the best room they had and I'm sure I got it. Not so much the room itself, but the view from the wrap around balcony was absolutely stunning. The bed and sofa bed were comfortable. Everything appeared to work well. The TV, the a/c, the coffee maker, iron/ironing board, and small refrigerator were all in good working order. The shower area was nice but the separate "closet" for the commode was ridiculously small and hard to maneuver. Anyone over 5'8" and 200 lbs. would probably have to be a contortionist to fit in there. But, after a few experiences with the commode, you can figure it out. Also, the elevator is very small. One person and two pieces of luggage and it's at capacity. The room was cleaned everyday but I still found sticky places on the counter that were overlooked. Also, they don't have face towels. So, we had to make do with thin bath and hand towels. The staff were always diligently cleaning some part of the hotel each day. The beautiful terrace area was immaculate. We only had drinks and dessert at the hotel but the food looked decent. However, the hours of the restaurant were rather sporadic. Good thing there are plenty of choices in the area but you've got to be aware of the time everything opens and closes. Typically, restaurants are open for breakfast/ lunch until 2:30 pm and reopen at 7:00 pm for dinner. So, if you're hungry in between, pizza at a nearby cafe is about your only choice. Plan your meals wisely. There's a gourmet grocery store within walking distance that saved us a few times. The restaurants and shops at the marina were nice especially when there was live entertainment. Side note: all of the French singers sang in English. Needless to say, we enjoyed the music while dining. The hotel is conveniently located to all the beautiful places to visit in the South of France including Nice, Antibes, Monte Carlo and a beautiful little village in the mountains but I can't remember it's name. My best advice is to get a driver. We rode the nearby regional train to Monaco but it was a disastrous experience. If you don't know how to purchase tickets and can't read the directional signs (mainly because they don't make sense and some of it because of the language barrier), get a driver as we did for all of our other excursions. Overall, this was a delightful experience. The views from the hotel make it a four star location. There's no better place to gaze the sunrise and sunset over the Mediterrean Sea. Simply beautiful. The location is perfect. It's away from the hustle and bustle of the neighboring popular towns and close enough that you can be in the mix of everything within 30 minutes. I would definitely stay here again and I...

The main entrance from the street looks like a construction site, not like a regular hotel entrance. Indeed there is a construction site greeting the guests. The reception is actually just a table set up in the hallway of one of the two buildings. The second building has no reception - it has a main entrance permanently opened for anyone from the street to come in. Guests safety does not seem to be a preocupation for this hotel. The only receptionist available was nicely chatting on the phone with a person inquiring for a booking. I can reproduce the whole conversation, because I was standing unconfortably in front of that receptionist waiting for her to finish and give me my room. I was shocked by the lack of safety of the room I was offered, ground floor, with main entrace on an open, exterior corridor accessible directly from the street to anyone, and a "terrace", basically a place straight on the alley leading to the street. To make things worse, the access to the room was through a flooded corridor, where water was dripping from the ceiling and accumulated several cm deep on the floor. I got another room in the second building, just to find that the heating in the bathroom was broken. A small detail: it was a cold day, so I needed a hot shower in a warm bathroom, which seemed impossible at Mercure hotel. A mechanic came and merely note that the heating is down. I had to change the room, for one on same floor ( 2nd) where the radiator was luke warm in the lower part. Shortly after I moved in, the radiator got cold from top to bottom. I had to call reception again. I moved again, in room on 1st floor. Here was warmer and the heating worked, apparently only on this floor. Security or the lack of it is also an issue for all the rooms in this second building: the buiding is across the alley from the building where the reception ist and the access is through a door that is open all the time, whithout receptionist to watch who enters. Basically anyone walking by can come in. In Mercure H. access is wide open to anybody, so I felt very insecure in this so called 4 stars hotel. There is a separate tiny "room" with only the WC in it, but no wash-bassin, meaning people touch everything with dirty hands till they get in the bathroom to wash their hands. The size of this WC "room" is extremely small, it feels like a cell. The towels looked freshly washed, but when you used them, you had to deal with a rancid smell coming from them. The interaction with the receptionist was unpleasant to say the least. There is no mention on hotel page that the tourists "enjoy" a construction-site environment and not securized rooms. Just two lines saying "Our restaurant "Les Terrasses du Syracuse" is currently closed due to renovations. An evening service will be provided from Monday through Thursday in the lobby." Never ever Mercure...
