Rio's Banana Cafe — Restaurant in Grasse

We have been coming here for years whenever we visit Golfe Juan. It's always very welcoming, has waiter service and live music or a DJ on Friday and Saturday evenings. They speak perfect English and don't expect you to be fluent in French. I've always had a dance there, often into the early hours when the music gets going, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every visit. During the days the vibe (for want of a better word) is relaxed with chilled music, there are also a number of screens for sporting events and a pool table. The food is pretty good, quick service and not too expensive. If you want to meet other Brits, yacht crews and French all having a beer and enjoying themselves together then this is the place to go. Disappointed and appalled by the rudeness of the Owner/manager. Went there with my wife and 7 years old daughter mid afternoon after the beach for a drink and while waiting for a friend to meet us. We have got sent off by someone smoking a cigarette and unable to make eye contact and who appears to be the Owner / Manager saying: "we are closed, it's a private party'' whereas there were some Customers sitting on the terrace. I heard another Lady being pushed away straight after us. However, after we left and sat at another place, my friend, we were waiting for, was let in and ordered a drink. When the Owner/ Manager was confronted by my friend, he was embarrassed and confused and said that we came to order food ???. To sum up, rude and obviously discriminatory , to be avoided...

Mon amie et moi sommes allés dans ce restaurant pour prendre un verre, mais notre expérience a été extrêmement décevante. Dès notre arrivée, l'ambiance était désagréable. Lorsque nous avons posé une question au gérant , sa réponse a été méchante et empreinte de mépris. Choquée par son manque de professionnalisme et son attitude désagréable, mon amie lui a fait remarquer. C'est alors que lui et un autre membre du personnel se sont mis à très mal nous parler, nous demandant de partir, je cite « On vous servira pas »« allez dehors » « dégagez ». Est-ce ainsi que l'on traite les clients de nos jours ? Est-ce parce que nous sommes deux femmes typées ? Ce n'est pas la première fois que nous venons dans cet établissement, mais cette fois-ci vous avez vraiment franchi les limites ! Je conseille vivement à toutes les personnes présentes de ne pas fréquenter cet établissement. Il y a d'autres cafés et restaurants à proximité où vous serez accueillis avec chaleur et gentillesse.
