Chez Marius — Restaurant in Grenoble

GOOD POINTS This is an excellent restaurant at a reasonable price. It's just a couple of minutes walk from the main tourist bit. Timing: although busy the timing and staff worked really well together. I like a table cloth at a restaurant and this one was exquisite. It was lace but dipped in some kind of resin to aid cleaning. Portion size: This was just right. Perfect amount of salad and chips and a good size burger. Desert was an excellent size. Staff: The staff were dressed really nicely. Food: My burger came with a steak knife and a range of good fillings. The salad came with a tasty dressing. The desert (tart tatin) was the best I've had. The wine was perfectly priced. A gentle breeze passed through the restaurant. The toilets were clean with a fitting green theme. The Chandeliers were wonderful and I liked the paintings. A menu was offered in English and the staff spoke excellent English. The menu was beautifully presented with scroll work surrounding each page.

TO IMPROVE Very small point: there was 1 or 2 tiny small items on the burger that were a little charred, perhaps an onion?

You could ask the council to paint the delivery box opposite as the graffiti was a little poor, but I understand this is beyond the restaurants remit.

Overall best venue for me...

Asked our hotel for a recommendation and was immediately given this restaurant. Made a booking online and showed up on a cold rainy day.

Ordered the Fondant de Bœuf, La Bavette sauce a cepes, salade Grenobloise. All came with a side salad and gratin dauphinois.

The food came out quickly and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the Fondant de Bœuf but only if you enjoy braised meat dishes. The sauce is rich in flavor.

Service was great, though one of the waitresses dropped sauce on my pants and didn't bother to notice or apologize. No big...

Nice little french bistrot decor and vibe, even the waiters are dressed up. Had a beautiful dinner with my girlfriend which was made even better by the food. I had tender beef in a wine sauce with seasonal vegetables and a Gratin Dauphinois that was absolutely delicous. We also got desert, which was a mistake because I was already stuffed😅 even though my stomach hurt after from being so full it was well worth it.
